Don't worry, I can read and I can also comprehend - unlike some

I really don't get why you're posting info that isn't answering his question. Who cares about what kind of power the other engines can make - they would have to be modified to match the power figures of the Honda engine. You would be an IDIOT to think that the Honda engine isn't decent. It is a very nice factory built motor - even to your own admission they are also reliable.

I am as welcomed here as you are - if you don't like it then leave. But hey, feel free to compare apples to oranges if it makes you feel smart for once in your life

thanks for that info!

apparently the dc5r is the fastest (quater mile) N/A 4cyl.

Obviously you're after a JDM car; cos as you probably know we never officially got the 'proper' engine with the dc5r body. Lack of high-octane fuel was Honda's excuse at the time (as well as Nissan's and Subaru's with the SX and WRX)

@ oh-so-swift:

I guess these cars are good for what they are, being small displacement small cars, but they are hyped up to be soooo much more that. Sometimes the hype from the Honda fanboys makes them seem like skyline beaters, when they are no where near... That's the problem I think, theres nothing wrong with them, just they are hyped up to be way

more then they are.

HAHAHA skyline beaters.... gotta have some big HP to beat a skyline (GTR) Nothing a stock type R can produce.

Why do you post such irrelevant crap that doesn't even answer his question?

[200] ... seriously. stfu. you're a real dick, arent you?

we all know why x-trail posted his opinion. its somewhat related to the question. its an opinon. and thats plenty.

its extremely obvious to all but you. why? because you like to shit talk in pretty much every single post you make. whats that shit about?

you contribute nothing, and you're fkn annoying.

Come'on guys enough with the personal bashing.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions of the engines regardless if its good or bad - whatever...

There is also nothing wrong with some personal opinion (input) - even if it doesn't directly answer the question - as long as it is not false - It's all up to the reader.

yeh love JDM, i already have a JDM starlet now for the next car its either going to be a JDM civic or Euro Hatch Golf Gti mk4 or golf r32(bit more expensive)

just wanted to see what people thought about the type R's

i appreciate your relpys.

On you mate let us know how it goes.

My daily for the past couple of months has been a Renaultsport Clio (2.0, 125kW, 1035kg 0-100 ~7), maybe not quite in the Integra R category in a straight line, or your Starlet beastie  but it's a sweet handler and still good on fuel. Might be a good alternative to a Civic R? Hot hatches are only gonna get more popular with no end in sight to the fuel increases...

Well they may not make axle bending torque like a Turbo car, But man are they fast around a circuit. I would pick a DC2 Type R over all the other cars mentioned. Its the " Rawest " race machine of the lot. May not make as much total power as the DC5 but power to weight and the handling make it one awesome little rocket. You gotta hear one with an open pod filter....Simply intoxicating !!!

thank you. next time someone wants some info on a gtr, maybe i'll chime in and compare it to the gts - they are both made by nissan and are both skylines.

block me if you dont want to read my posts.

Clio sport is an awsome car!!! some very nice ones out there!!

200 stfu, you just making an ass of yourself. Your criticism would be better placed if you atleast added something constructive, even if its not a literal and precise intrepretation of the question. Sometimes a related point of view can make someone consider a previously unthought of angle, which is what i expect swift is trying to do.

I'm going to go with the spirit of this thread and discuss what people MIGHT see in type -r hondas, and to boot, i'm going to do it with no personal ownership experience.

A majority of the charm with honda's are the performance that comes with their weight and handling, pretty much every other na cars out there since the 86 has largely moved away from this and has used brute force to overcome any hurdles.

A light weight body with a snappy high reving engine is really the NA equivalent to a larger cap FI. the type r doesnt come on song until higher rpm and we dont come onsong until we spool up.

When it comes to torque, keep in mind that rx7's for example have never been torque monsters, but light well distributed weight and a high revving engine can deliver a car thats a joy to drive around the twisties.

On sometihng tight and squirrelly, ods are the honda boys will leave us behind, the might do the same with your little go cart too swifty... until you both get the the next decent straight.

Now as an added childish idea... i've heard the yanks create some absolute frankenstines by mixing honders and FI.... strange mix... but fcking quick.

Yeah I'm loving it so far, I mean there are some niggles I'm prepared for, what with French build quality the way it is (is kind of ironic choosing a french car as my daily and a jap car as my weekend car! ). It also comes pretty full of fruit; xenons, leather/alcantara, climate control, 6 airbags, 6cd stacker, ESP on later models. See if you can get a Cup version (182 Cup or Trophy even) if you're going to take it to the track. I'm still new to them though so not too sure about tuning potential

What happens in a test when you're presented with a specific question that you don't answer in your response ? you strike me as someone that wouldn't be able to answer that so i'll tell you. you fail... thats what happens.

But don't worry princess, i've added the most informative post in this whole thread.

To the OP, i'll repeat once again, join the OzHonda forum where you can actually speak to owners of these motor vehicles and not get the opinion of uneducated people that have never owned or driven the models you're asking about.

TBH you're on the wrong forum to obtain this kind of information.

you seem to be a very angry person, try some boxing to relieve some of the stress. and i hope that post above saying 'uneducated people' isnt aiming at me as well.

Me angry? you got me all wrong. I actually get a good laugh at the pathetic threads and posts that SAU has become. I love the attempts people make to try and shoot me down - i find it very amusing.

I am a very careless person at heart though  nothing really bothers me.

Funny you mentioned boxing, a martial arts life banner came up on the bottom of the page

Good job this isnt a test then isnt it.

And as the OP said, he didnt ask oz honda as he's not looking for rabid fanboy POV, instead he's looking for varying points of view from people capable of both critique and praise. What greater praise could there be than that from someone who isnt a mindless fan of the vehicle in question.

exactly my point Messiah! =)

Then why did you care so much to join this thread, when you had no constructive input at all??

Did my original comment offend you THAT much? (that's what leads us to think you're an angry person)
