the difference between an integra type r and an integra vtir,

it's probably similar to compare a standard kia sportage and i dunno..... a turbo charged xtrail?

anyway, i think threads like this only get somewhere if you have accurate info to post, or if you have an honest opinion from experience with the car in question.

I have in the family and frequently drive a stock standard dc2 integra type r, we have owned it since 15,000kms and it now has 104,000kms

so far it has consumed one set of tyres, a bunch of oil filters, and some brake pads, along with fluids...

not one thing has broken down on the car, the clutch is still original, the diff is as tight as it was when we got the car, the things that let the car down are the fact it's lacking a 6th gear for hwy driving and the road noise.

in short they are a fantastic car,

as far as performance goes- provided you are the only person in it, they are as much fun as a car with twice the hp, however to be honest they do suffer when you add the weight of extra bodies.

the front lsd gives them superb traction, and you get a real sense of confidence when driving at the limit, the straight line performance isn't anything to brag about, but the fact they are one of the most rewarding fwd cars ever made says something.

anyone doubting the ability or sheer fun factor of these cars is only doing themselves an injustice.

read this short evo mag article:

http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/cargroupte...da_integra.html

this is an interesting fact from wiki:

An interesting and little publicized fact about the 1996-2001 DC2 Type R is that Honda lost money on every single vehicle sold, even though extra dealer markups sometimes made for excessive dealer profit. Honda produced the DC2 Type R for homologation purposes to meet FIA certification of the motor and the chassis changes to make the car more competitive in N-series and World Cup racing. The details required, hand tooling in early versions and finishing the product through the use of various small fabrication shops in Japan made for increased costs in manufacture that could not be made up in the list price of the vehicles. Honda (and Acura in the US) deemed the car important for the marque's image and important for the racing programmes of the era, and the parent company therefore accepted a financial net loss on each vehicle sold.

and lastly:

an aussie review that states the integra as a better/more focussed car than the nissan s15 and the subaru wrx

http://www.carsales.com.au/reviews/2001/sp...tref=ed-reviews

i drive a modified s series nissan, and i'm not ashamed to say i have had as much fun punting the integra as i have the rwd nissan platform,

go ahead and flame me, but anyone who has driven one on a true twisty road and not enjoyed themselves......is a liar.

take out rental and company vehicles and taxis and the sales of commos and falcons arn't that high at all, corolla and civics win then.

Commos and falcons would be australias favourite cars if they could go for 3 years without overheating on a hot day...

And if i was buying a car purely for the fun of driving it i'd get an elise

f**k you're stupid. you said that they were australias favourite family car. they aren't family cars. they are small cars. they are australias favourite small car. neither toyota nor the general population think of them as family cars. they might make up the most sales after falcons and commodores, but that doesn't mean they are a family car. if they were then toyota wouldn't bother making the camry and marketing it as a family car, and they would change their ad for the corolla to say "australia's favourite family car" instead of "australia's favourite small car".

f**k, is this thread still going? :/

Some people like Hondas, some don't

Hondas aren't the worst car in the world, nor are they the best

Deal with it and move on, people. I think that all that can be said on the matter already has been said. Give it up and get on with your llives.

Thread lockage, please.

Hondas (Mainly hatchback Civics) are ruined in my head because of the stupid fanboys (& fangirls?) who talk sh*t & reckons that their frog hatch back with a fart cannon can "chop" everything else on the road... last time I checked you need a sharp blade of some sort to "chop" anything.

Its like Apple & their fanboys, I personally don't mind Apple (don't think they are that great either) but the amount of crap their fanboy (& fangirls?) followers does & talks about ruins it for me.

Once again something has being ruined by stupid retarded fanboys...

The end.

Type R can be a family car because they have a 4 door dc2R, my friend has one of these.

look at this. shows the dc2R on the track and look at how it compares to the turbo cars, its faster around the track than a s14

Silvia's aren't exactly the best handling cars around. I thought the mr2 would have done better and would of been interesting if the impreza could of overtaken if it hadn't stuffed up like that. Very interesting to see how well they ran but and to what extent they actually tune the factory suspension.

Because the reputation of all Skylines isn't being ruined by the douche in my neighbourhood in his stock R33 with cannon exhaust who thinks he's a drift king every time he goes around a corner bouncing it off the limiter in first gear...

Please stop picking on my car Kristian.... :D

Saw a Civic last week with my friend at uni, who was looking for cheap $5k cars, was standard rice spec, with fart cannon, lowered to like a frog rubbing its belly on the ground...

But what amazes me was when the seller popped the bonnet there was atmo BOV stuck in there somewhere & when we asked the seller whether the car has a turbo & he replied 'no'.

Then we pointed out the BOV & ask him what is that for & he mentioned something along the line of it increases the air flow & makes the car faster... WTF?!

I couldn't keep a straight face the moment he said that...

I didn't know people actually did put atmo BOVs on their N/A cars (besides those fake Chinese rock nut things).

Because I actually know a bit about turbo cars, I always had my brothers mates asking me about BOVs on there Falcons by drilling holes in the exhaust and shit, absolute idiots. Did you ask the seller if he could include some speed holes I hear they make the car go faster too :whistling:
