probably some sort of thick glass window infront of the lense or some sort of extreme heat risistant plastic????, i'm assuming the camera lense was drilled through the block wall and the rest of the camera was still away from the heat.

Cool vid...pretty clever whatever they lined the cylinder bore with to get a peek in there. Though given the piston doesn't go past the camera it's probably an ultra thick head gasket they drilled out and engine is running on real low compression.
