Recently I was driving along some sweeping hills roads with the cruise control set at approx 117KPH. I would go around 75 and 85 KPH signposted corners without needing to disengage the cruise but found that the VDC (in Race mode) would trigger on right hand turns with as low as 0.3G showing on the steering diplay. The cruise control would then deactivate. Very annoying to say the least when you are just loping along at relatively slow speeds around these high radius bends. Left hand turns required around 0.7-0.9 G for the VDC to cut in and cruise control to cut out depending on the bumpiness of the road.

I took it to Nissan for its 12 month POS inspection and was told that there was a "soft" fault code logged for the G sensor indicating a previous fault condition but it was not indicating the hard fault when checked. The service manager surmised that if the system is showing a soft code then the BCM may invoke a mode where the G's threshold required for VDC to start intervening is lowered. They cleared the DTC and I went on my way. I took it for another spin last weekend and initially it appeared to be OK but by the end of the trip it was back to its old tricks.

I haven't yet taken it back to see if that soft code has reappeared but would like to know other's experiences. Can you cruise along these kind of country roads without the cruise control cutting out on corners with as low as 0.3G? The assymetric nature of the phenomenon has me convinced there is a problem with the G sensor and I am curious to see if the G sensor DTC is back when I take it back in.
