hey guys, i own a orange r32 thats pretty bloody hard to miss, i also basically am the only one that i know of definately around my area let alone nsw, anyways getting to why i brought this thread up..

i like many skyline owners am a responsible driver that drives and does everything a responsible driver should, although i give it a hit on the freeway every now and then :)

the other night after i finished work i was on my way home when a dickhead in p plates was tail gaiting me, i did the smart thing and slowed down and i even pulled over to the side of the road to let him go past only to have him go slow in front of me hit the breaks and try an coherse me into giving my car a hit. now i have a bit of work done to the car and it has a external wastegate with a screamer that also backfires flames thanks to launch control so you can imagine how loud it sounds.

anyways i thought i have had enough of this shit and i pulled out from behind him and gave it a boot around a street and then turned down another so that i left him and he could not follow me then proceeded to go home as per usual nothing different.

today while i was at work a guy came in and went off his rocker at me about how much a f**king tool i am and driving like an idiot i am gunna kill someone ect ect, of course this made me feel sick to my stomach and utterly embaressed, and i tried to explain the situation to him but all he gave me was your just like every other yound person who thinks they can do what they want, up until this stage i was being courtesy and apologizing for my actions but when he started stero typing me with all those hoon drivers ie holden commodore p platers ect i just got mad and told him where to go, low and behold i see him later on and what car is he driving? a holden gts R8 anyways enough about my rant

basically all i am saying is its not worth it, my reputation ect got hindered because of some low life, in future i will pull over and jst let them keep driving, and i had to get if off my chest as it is eating me up inside

Your rep got hammered because YOU acted like a idiot, don't mean to be harsh but there are lots of idiots out there looking to egg you on, you accepted so YOU are to blame.....

Don't blame others for your mistakes.

i am in no way blaming others for my own mistakes, i take full resposibility for the actions that have occured, and if you read the post and not jumped to conclusions you would understand that also. all i wanted to do was warn other not to follow in the same actions that i have part taken as there are far worse consequences than just getting rid of the idiot egging you on. that is the only message i was trying to put across and i apologize if it seemed as though i was blaming someone.

You're one of the most remorseful people here on SAU. Congrats Jeremy!

Lesson's been learned - so now you're one incident wiser & can now get on with your life without the guilts.

Introduce yourself to me when you see me around in the Lower Blue Mtns.

BTW, I think most of us in the male gender have done what you have at some time. Some learn - some don't.

agreed, it becomes a lack of common sence when you get all worked up from an idiot on the road and sometimes your emotions can get the better of you. i wouldnt bother too much about it, that other guy should really get a life, ive got better things to do than have a cry about someone going a bit too fast or car to noisy.

i had a guy the other day trying to egg me on to do a burnout and i just looked over at him and slowly shook my head and drove off normally.

it was funny.

Exactly. Who cares what some guy at work thinks? The sun will rise again, its not the end of the world.

was driving along the other day, when , as i entered a roundabout i noticed a fire truck approaching lights and sirens going from the right. i went through the roundabout and sat in the left lane so he could pass..

After the roundabout this fire truck sat on my bumper for quite a while and i figured he must be turning left and want me out of the way so i moved to the right lane and proceeded. I watched as the fire truck tailed the other guy in the left lane i was driving behind..

Anyway about 1-2km down the road when it was only single lane , here comes the fire truck again full throttle..I had nowhere to pull over so he could pass and he was again sitting on my bumper so i sped up a little as i could pull to the side in about 100mtres..This crazy bloke overtook anyway, despite the fact we were cresting a hill..

Then a few more kms down the road we slow down for roadworks, so i caught up to him again.. His sirens were now off and he slowed to the left lane so i overtook him..Now this guy gives me dirty looks as i pass..Then, we come to traffic lights, i stop and am sitting there when i get a tap on my window and some old geriatric alcoholic looking fireman screaming abuse at me..

I told him to get f**ked as i tried to let him passed twice and gave him plenty of chance to do so. He complains that i sped up ,but when a truck is flying up behind you that quick its kind of a natural reaction, and i only did so to pull over where there was room.. He wouldnt listen so i told him to get f**ked again..He carries on about how he can report me and whatever..As i have my work number on my ute , sure enough i get a call from the office that there had been a complaint. I was tempted to go to his station and make a complaint against him but couldn't be bothered...I got better things to do

I know i did the right thing is all that matters..

you too are absolved of your sin my son.

now i just need to find someone to absolve mine - lol

Spill Terry what did you do?

Since I turned 61 this week, can I use dementia as an excuse lol?

Or perhaps this famous quote applies to me,

"The older I get, the better driver I was!" :D

Oh that's right...

One gap in my memory lapses, reminds me of driving my wife's beemer not long ago with 2 passengers. And I didn't see someone on my right hand side @ the roundabout. Damn multifocal glasses!!! > and the passenger sitting behind me is thinking, "Are you blind??? WTF!"

That's something that you guys can look forward to:

1) loss of peripheral vision + neck too stiff to do headchecks

2) deafness from iPods & ICE

Now... is that sirens and red/blue lights behind me now - or Mr Whippy???

Are you saying you've never done anything thats breaking the transport law at all?

Anyway TS, good on you to have even slowed down or pulled over to let that scum overtake you. Many who drives an import wouldnt even think about that in the first place. So dont get too worried over it. It'll go away after awhile.

For the record mine had nothing to do with not giving way at the roundabout!!

i was well in the roundabout before he was even there, but i seen him coming down the road

hard to miss a fire truck at full noise. It was the events after the roundabout that was an issue

You drive a Skyline, your reputation was always sh*t. You can't ruin something that's already ruined. You're only making it worse for yourself with a screamer and orange paint.

At the end of the day you know what happened and that's what matters. Who cares about some old dude in his boat. haha

    • Yucky. Things haven't gotten any better though. Now you have Emerson and Honeywell pushing these massive DCS/Scada things with proprietary hardware. They're not a PLC, they're not a computer, they're a...distibuted PLCish/DCSish monster of thing, that only they can program because they make the barriers to entry for anyone else so fricking high. And their developers are all located in the third/developing world (and India, in case anyone does not include that place in that category) and there are terrible failings of the ESl variety, of the care and common sense variety, and f**king forget about Functional Safety. Not a one of them has any idea what it means to comply with an IEC 615xx series standard.
    • All of the ECU grounds are to the chassis, the IGN grounds are to the cylinder head and i believe all the OEM body harness are left in original locations, im trying to work out if i can tell if the sensor voltage itself is losing any power to it from the very low ECU voltage. But yeah a manual pressure gauge will help in picking which path to actually chase. Also please dont bully my wiring plan i never designed it to be universally understood hopefully it still can make sense to you, im a wiring virgin.  1 thing i have just noticed the pressure sensor in question relays both pressure and temperature, the temperature reading holds nice and steady despite the low ecu voltage but the pressure reading is the one that jumps around alot so maybe it is really a pressure issue? wiring plan.xlsx
    • Gday, Due to not finding much up to date info on this topic I thought I'd make a thread to get peoples latest opinions/recommendations. Background info -  I've got a S1.5 R33 GTST as a fun project car, mainly for street use and occasional drag strip, apart from all the cosmetic things I'll be doing a full rebuild of the engine with forged internals. Since it'll be getting new cams (kelford) and springs to match I thought I might as well get new lifters and valves while I'm at it, the dash says 160k KMs but the engine seems pretty tired, compression measures about 130psi across all cylinders so I'd like to freshen everything up. This is where I'm tempted to just fork out the extra and go solid lifters while it's all apart, aiming for 400-450kw atw with a flex tune. Assuming all supporting mods (oiling, fuel and all bolt ons) with a lightly ported head and turbo to match (yet to make a decision possibly gtx3582r or similar from Hypergear) I've seen the Tomei kits with just the buckets getting around, Supertech sells most things - Supertech High Performance Cam Followers | Trusted Racing Cam Followers Questions -  Has anyone found the Hydraulic lifters to limit them at this power level? Is it usually found that you can just clean the stock lifters and find they work fine?  Does going solid lifters save any headaches/issues with hydraulic lifters in the future? Any recommendations on other things that will need to be replaced, I know I'll need to get the solid profile cams but can you use the same type of valves and springs/retainers and is it recommended to change the guides and stem seals?    Summary -  Basically looking for pros/cons and wanna know if I'll actually need the extra RPMs from solid lifters or it'll just be bragging rights to say it ReVs OvEr 8000 Cheers
    • Ha ha ha, this stuff they had was installing Toshiba PLCs that were made some time in the 1990s, and they were replacing GEM80 PLCs. To let those two talk (staged upgrade along a ~1.2km long building that was split into 4 sections), was a bunch of WinXP machines running Java gateways... There was no way to put something like ProfiSafe in... Most of the HMI machines were WinXP, with Java program, with a custom button board emulating a keyboard... About the only buttons in the operator stations that went direct to the PLCs was the eStop. There was some interesting design stuff in that place...
