Modified Skyline 0-100 Times

yeah it depends on the type of clutch i guess. if it's a button, they don't like being slipped.. just gotta rev it and dump so i've read.

sounds like you've got all the goodies and it still shreds tyres :blink:

Only with 4,000rpm+, 3500rpm launch is great, light wheelspin and your outta here. Anything below 3500rpm launch and it holds traction till the end of 1st (warm tyres) and a brief spin into second with a firm change and then traction city from there on. I think its great. I just dont see how an extra 100rwkw can be launched hard on street tyres.

Yeah the Nismo diff and Nitto tyres will obviously help a lot but I still struggle to comprehend them holding a 4,000rpm launch with 285rwkw. Joey please dont take this as an attack as I am new to skylines but its hard to comprehend for me. Would love to see it though ;)

i usually launch @ around 4000... even on the skidpan @ deca i get traction ;) (except when i tried to take that cone in the top of 3rd lol)

obviously a 7k dump will spin them easily though...

with a good diff, flat camber on WOT, good suspension properly set up and the nitto's its believable :)

What are you using for your rear camber adjustment? I have a set of the whiteline bushes, but I think I need a second set to get more adjustment as it is still around 1 degree negative.

So my car made 273rwkw and I couldn't get ANY of it down in 1st or 2nd with my crappy Hankook POS 235s.

Now with Yoko Advan AD08s 255s on the rear once they are warm it will almost hold WOT in 1st - till about 5.5k where it hits 270kw. As soon as it starts to let go I just hit 2nd and as long as I don't flat change and get too much wheelspin it'll go from 50kph - 100kph in about 2 seconds flat.

Getting it off the line from a dead stop is a bit harder, but I'd imagine the pull through second would make up a fair bit of time even when 'easing' it off the line.

Not sure the best way to time it, but I can imagine flat 4s should be achievable...

My best 0-100 = 4.2 seconds. Apexi RSM with G sensor. 55m distance apparently.

Thats on 265 Federal Super Steels. I have some Mickey t's for the drags, and if i can get them to hook up like they did once before, i will time the 0-100 again!

Judging by the standard traction control in the R34 (now no longer hooked up due to the Haltech, but it does have the ability) I would accelerate quicker with it off and a bunch of wheelspin (in the dry) because it just chokes the engine up WAY too much...

Think it would be a horrible backfiring mess with 270+rwkw and the standard traction control personally...

My Haltech does have launch control, but i'm not sure how much it would help when the problem is wheelspin...?

I guess it just takes throttle out of the equation so all you have to worry about is getting the clutch just right?

Could investigate it further i suppose.

Actually traction control measures the difference in speed between the front wheels and the back wheels

You can program the amount of spin you will allow and how you want to cut the power back.

You can still have wheel spin but not to the point that it actually bakes the tyres

We use this on the sports sedans all the time it works very well.

On another note its not there to stop you spearing into the trees etc, they have installed a steering wheel for this purpose if you look hard you will find it just to the left of your keys

I'm just referring to standard Nissan R34 GTT traction control. It is not a launch control. It (from memory) cuts fuel to 3 cylinders (or spark) and shuts a second butterfly on the throttle, thus momentarily massively killing the engine and all power.

If left on for a hard launch, the car stalls (at least mine did!)

Im not sure if there is a nistune for the r34 and if there is , if you can adjust the traction controle

I have an r32 with an 26/30 going in it and this is getting traction control so I can get home if it rains.

But will also be able to help it get off the line If I feel the need.

But its going to be switchable incase I need to make some smoke

If you cant get your car home in the rain without traction control then I think you need to learn how to use the pedal to the right of the brake pedal...

I find traction control in the standard form useless.

Standard traction control in the 34 is controlled by the same computer in the boot as the ALSD / HiCAS i do believe. Since changing ECU my slip light is constantly on, although no different to the 'TCS Off' light that used to be constantly on :P

The traction control was fine with standard(ish) power under normal driving (in the wet etc) but no good to help launch. I pretty much got in the habit of turning it off first thing as soon as I started the car. Would be fairly useless with any decent power output IMO.

Seriously though - we are talking turbo cars here, so even with (and possibly even more so due to a larger turbo) huge power ie 400rwkw+ you are going to need to wind that hair dryer up before it starts making any sort of power. It's not like you don't know what's coming shortly after your foot goes down... Just go easy on the loud pedal when the conditions don't suit and you'll be fine.

If you can't manage that perhaps you should let your gf drive it home in the rain...? :P

So you want to use traction control to limit the wheel spin?? Thats ridiculous, maybe just lighten up your right foot.

If you said you wanted to use traction control to catch the car when it wheel spins unexpectedly, then it would be understandable.

Your right, if you could drive as well as me it wouldnt be an issue :P

    • There is a LOT of stuff that can be done, it all depends on how much time and money you want to spend on doing in.  Not all ECUs will be able to do it, and the more control you need the more time and knowledge needs to be put into making it work.  If you're willing to spend the time and money and have the right hardware and skills involved there's a lot that can be done. 
    • I am impressed with all this level of adjustment. I didn't expect all this possibility
    • Correct.  In the case of the 500kw dyno plot I showed you the car actually runs two boost control solenoids for boost control and a 5psi wastegate spring.  It allows me to control how much boost pressure is applied to both sides of the wastegate valve at any point and fairly accurately control boost target as a result. I've tuned it so that it's able to target anywhere from 5psi to 25psi depending on what's needed.  The target tables I've set up in that car are Gear vs RPM, so every gear has potential for a different boost (and torque) curve.   First and second gear have quite low boost targets, third gear actually has different target boost all the way through the rpm range as it's a stock RB25 gearbox - the boost targets have been chosen to maintain a peak of 600nm (what the owner has set as the maximum torque he's happy with putting through the stock 3rd gear) but it carries that to the rev limiter.   The boost curve to achieve that is something of a ramp up, then hold, then ramp up again and the power curve looks more like a flat line haha.

    • That's torque and power, it's all from a single run.  The boost curve is "held back" from it's peak target in the 3500rpm to 5000rpm range from memory, so it ramps hard to something like 18psi then climbs more progressively to 23psi nearer 5000rpm.   It makes the torque (and power) ramp more "natural" and less hard on parts and traction, it doesn't feel artificially held back.
