What are Little plastic window strips

I have a JDM Galant VR4 (15 year import) and it has plastic weathershields on all the windows. I have had heaps of people ask what they are. I have been told they are for Snow and also cuz most japs smoke they can with the windows a crack down.

I have also noticed that alot of Jap imports also have these weathshields.....

can anyone tell me what they are for ?

I believe they are for what you said - being able to have the window slightly open when smoking, or during the rainy season to prevent the glass from misting up...

The thing that they rock for is when you hit your windscreen washers the run off doesn't end up in through your drivers window.

Oh I hate that! And why does it always have to leak into the power windows/mirrors buttons, that can't be good.
