My power windows seem weak. the windows work fine, always, but.. they go up kinda slow and weak. I can hear the motors whining away. Both driver's and passenger. Theyve always been this way.

Theyre just not solid and quick like in most other cars.

Is this normal in early 33's?

If not, what would be the fix? new motors? not enough power going to the motors? something not right with the window rails, mechanism, rollers, etc?

I would take the door trims off and look where the felt pads are touching/supporting and guiding the glass. Over time dirt and grit can harden them, and the friction increases against the window. I'm not sure how to make them better, but I know in my car, the one I did take out, I cleaned in hot soapy water and it's softness and fluffness came back. It wouldn't hurt to check the mechanism that winds the window up either. Quite possible it's low on grease and needs some attention.

the felt pads at the top look ok. ive adjusted those before, to get my windows to stop rattling. they didnt look too bad.

but next time i pull the door trims off, i'll definitely check all that stuff again.

so i guess this is not normal then?

dont get me wrong, it's not like theyre about to konk out or anything, but compared to a bunch of cars i regularly drive (2000 lancer, 01 rav4, 09 swift, etc etc) theyre just not solid.

The window motor's are poorly designed and once the shaft on the inside has worn the gears don't line up properly any more and causes slippage because of the play in it.

Apply a little hand pressure to the top of the glass as the window goes up and see if it slips. If it does, replace motors. It's easy as pie to change them so long as you can get your hands on motors with regulators still attached.

as krazy kong said, the felt pads could've hardened or could be pressing against the window too hard and grabbing on the glass.

could also be that the motor itself is a bit tight. maybe try a bit of lube on the output shaft of the motor if you can get to it.
