If you mean the igniter that is mounted on the back of the coil pack cover your shit out of luck, i tried to find ways of testing mine when i thought it had screwed up and found nothing, only way to test it is to find another that you know works and swap it over, i have a couple of spares but i dont think the 25 ones work on a 20.

its an igniter (thats what it is commonly called), as i said, i could'nt find any way to test mine, just had to swap it with a working one, checked the part numbers and 25 and 20's are different.

easy to test, get a LED test light, first check if you get 12volt input on each channel from the ECU, it will flash as you crank it, and to check the ignitor output connect ur test light to battery positive instead of ground and check if the ignitor grounds (will flash green) when cranking,

at least that way u can see if the ecu is sending the signal to the ignitor. Thats pretty much all you can do, there are resistance tests also, i think the specs are in the workshop manual.
