turbo wheel smashed in intercooler

short story: air filter has come lose while driving sucked in so gunk , smashed wheel blades that have made there way into intercooler and then engine. I have taken head off and am cleaning.

now there is crap stuck in the cooler i can hear it ratle when i shake it.

-tryed using a compreser to blow stuff out, did work a little.

- pushing a welding rod though the fins, got a little more out, I can only reach the fins in line with the inlet. I was thinking most would be in that part anyway as the inlet is on the bottom of the end tanks.

- options i have left; get some high presure flow bench to blow crap out, cut end tanks off and take somwhere to get cleaned,or just throw it in the bin like some peolpe have said.

if this has happened to anyone what can you do.

please help!

would water hurt it? i would suggest cover one end up and just flush water through then let it run out

water wont hurt at all.

no problems doing that at all.

But if it doesnt work... the bin is calling.

Not really worth pulling of ends tanks blah blah

Is it the stock cooler or an after market one?

If it's the stockie then ditch it and buy a second hand one.

If it's a after market one then get some water in there, flush it both ways and hopefully that will get it all out

I wouldnt be in a hury to bin it. Weigh up the cost of cutting end tanks off, cleaning, then getting someone to weld them on again Vs new intercooler.

Even if you transhed the end tanks, the core would still be worth something.

If you do decide you want to bin it, I will take it off your hands, pay postage etc to adeliade no probs - sight unseen (as long as it isnt a stocky;))

And if it is a stocky, good excuse to upgrade to a decent cooler, as stockies are crap - probably do more harm than good:P

nar wouldnt give a crap if it was a stock cooler. Its a bar and plate 600, 300, 75.

ill give water a go but bits are wedged in i think so i dont think they'll drain out.

get a pressure blower and fit a rubber tube over the end of the blower and i/c

then high boom and u should c it all fly out hopefully
