I cant really decide whats "the best" as every car is good in its designed environment, so here's my top 5;

Number one, all time fav; 997 GT3; Quick all the time, perfect throttle response, awesome suspension, so settled regardless of speed. I adore this car and am honestly a little bit sad every time i get out of it. The sound of it on cold start really says "yeah im a porka, but im not here to fu(k around" with nice lumpy cams that resemble a worked GTR rather than a refined german supercar

Number two, Lambo Gallardo spyder; It doesnt feel as fast as you'd think after owning a GTR, but its loud, quirky and the top down makes it a pleasure to drive even with the cumbersome gear shift surround

Number three, Mercedes Benz CLKAMG Black Edition; The factory issue buyers with a letter saying its a handful and to be careful so you know its good, great gearing, awesome seats, the noise is to die for, not for the feint hearted. This was more of a thrill than a pleasure. Its true, you need to be super careful of the loud pedal

Number four, Masarati GranTurismo; A real GT car thats a 2+2 seater, you could sit in this for 1000k's and get out feeling as fresh as when you got in. Nice subtle exhaust note, doesnt stand out like a Ferrari but just as nice on the inside. If you're a millionaire and need a daily, this is it.

Number five, Lotus Exige S (supercharged); A mission to get in and out but the pain (literally, your sides hurt) is so worth it. Very responsive, awesome noise, very trackday spec inside yet still has aircon and power windows. If you're looking for corner speed, you found it

Other notables include the new R35 GTR, Rolls Royce Phantom etc but as biased as this would sound, nothing has felt as fast/scary/fun as my own R32 even though its a beyotch in traffic with the clutch, very noisy all the time, rock hard suspension, no aircon etc :( Id love to have a go of a late model GT2 on slicks one day, that would probably be the ultimate/best thing as far as niceness on the inside but with insane corner exit speeds and overall respect for the throttle

My rebuilt porsche 911 c2, its a totally different car to drive compared to anything else on the road , heres a pic , also been lucky enough to drive a R35

Wow thats nice, anymore pics?

Got to love a nice air cooled porka with those wide rears!

...and the PowerFC

and the nismo rad

and the nismo thermostat

and the air intake

great thing about a nur is that you don't need many mods to make 300awkw's

That goes not only for NUR's but all GTR's;

turbos, ecu, injectors, front pipes, cat, catback then roll on 300awkw

Remember mass-iv? He said it the best "I wish I sold my gtst earlier" is what he said once he got his r34 gtr

Nice write-up Steveo. You've had some pretty enviable experiences by the looks of it. For some reason a GT3 is one of the only Porsches I'd be truly excited about driving, from an outsider's POV. Who let you drive their RR Phantom?! :(

Yeah its definatly an exciting drive, doesn't have the most power out there, or awd like the Turbo/4s, but just goes like a rocket

RR's a mates dads

With the NUR SteveO, literally ALL you have to do is wind the boost up. Everything else can handle it. Dumps would probably help, and injectors will be at their limit, but other then that, it's all pretty easy :P

Nice list of cars too! I knew you would have some great input :D

Just curious to know, do all the guys driving these exotics actually know people that own them?

Because That's absolutely mental... My car experience has to be the most boring out there.

I've only every driven a stock EVO8 MR, which was pretty fun as it was a good friends, and he let me boot it around corners.

My old R33 was ok, nothing like the EVO though, and I've only ever sat in 1 GTR in my life which was an R32 about 300ish awkw and I only passengered in that but was still worth it. Lol

Every person I sort of know that owns something exotic, is usually a friend of a friend, and they never even drive these things anyway because they're always working 6-7 days a week.

I.e R35 x 1, F430 x 1, SLK 55 AMG x 1

"I wish I sold my gtst earlier"

I can +1 this sentiment. I should have bought a GTR straight up rather than screwing around trying to make the GTST fast...I would be about 35k in fron at the moment. Oh well such is life.

And on topic, I have driven a GT3 RS in that awesome lime green colour lol. It was really good, everything was just right for going fast! Easily the best car i have driven, needed a few hundred more hp though!

At a meet up ages ago both he and I were at a set of lights, he has done almost everything you could do to a gtst, made more power than me aswel. I was 4 or 5 car lengths infront by 3rd gear. I reckon that was when he made the choice

I'm jealous you've driven an RS. One of those in orange is the perfect porka IMO

That porsche 911 c2 looks absolutely MINT.

I havent really been into euro cars too much tbh...love a porsche though :D

only hi-po factory car i have been in is the clk - amg black edition as above...(i thought it was black hawk but /shrug), was too good to be true.

Fast cars would have to be a 26/30 in a s13, completely stripped, 2 seats, no interior, i have no idea how it was even on the road....mate took me for a couple of runs around area, then stepped out at his place and said go for it....one of the most enjoyable rides.....450rwkw.....is just ridiculous, the guys on this forum that have cracked the 450 mark....you guys have big balls...

Good man having a 3L, but that must fry tires big time!!! What width wheels? Standard bodywork?

On slicks at a track it must be a real ball of laughs

    • Are these a plug and play setup, and do they need a tune, like a haltech ecu etc? Thanks
    • Nice work on the paint. Those 3 studs are long as.
    • Hi everyone, still chasing a bunch of this stuff. Thanks
    • Been over 2 months since I have done anything on the S15 and had a day off today so got stuck into mounting the radiator and intercooler. I ended up using factory bottom mounts as bolted in and I did order some gktech top brackets but didn't work with the PWR radiator so made up some with aluminium flat bar. Spent way to long on them but pretty happy how they are. Next job was the intercooler. Used some more aluminium flat bar and did the bottom mounts first. Top was easy as just one long piece and 2 90 degree coming off rad support and welded them on. The bumper support required some notching to let the outlets sit where I want so will add some reinforcement later to strengthen it. I have also bought ecu and waiting for it to arrive. Went with a Link g4x Xtreme but will be adding a ptmotorsport expander to add a few extra inputs over CAN. Went through a few different configurations on pclink to get what I want to allow future expansion for sensors and gearbox upgrades. Ordered gktech rear arms but looking at the hardrace lower control arms to have some extra adjustment too will see how the alignment looks after first setup. Got 2 more weeks of work before shut down and will have almost 4 weeks to work on this so planning on hopefully firing up mid January.   Also bought a 2015 brz with a heap of good gear, did noosa hill climb a month back. Owned it for 3 days changed alignment and sent it. Finished the weekend 2nd in class and only .3 off the 180sx best time last year. MCA Red coilovers, gktech rear lca, bolt on lock kit and tie rods, whiteline toe arms, cusco 1.5way diff and 4.5 ratio, endless brake pads, headers, exhaust, perrin intake and e85 tune. Electronic steering adjustment, nankang crs with koya wheels 17x9 +35. Have bought rear traction arm and relocation kit, extended studs and v3 tie rod kit. Planning on also getting flex tune as lucky to get 300km a tank with e85 and short ratio. Car is a heap of fun to drive and super easy to work on. AC in the line up at Noosa was mint in 35degree weather.
