Hey Bubba what detector are you using?

Oh and in regards to the Jamers , basically the device will send out the Jamming signal then physically turn itself off for a certain period of time. So if the cop goes for a second reading they *should * get your propper speed.

And yeah, that's what I was getting at above in regards to the jammers.. it's not like you drive around spewing waves out for all to detect.

im sorry 4 the little hijack but i dont want to start a new topic i have made 2 many... ok why dont were try to be more aggressive with speed cameras. first it would be interesting to know how high powered IR led's would work at hiding ur license plate from the speed camera. and just trowing it out there what about EMP ( just walk past and set of a small pulse ) owned or just throw a neodymium magnet and the ass.

but it would be nice to know witch detectors work and work best

Well I think a EMP might be getting a bit too agresive , also don't forget depending on strength you can screw up other things near by. And I think the police would ass rape you if they caught you messing with their brand new cash cow!!

IR LEDs mmm not sure but I think that's how the laser hammers work now ? Someone correct me if I am wrong

when i say IR led's this is to hide the license plate by over exposing it. get a digital camera in a dark room and hold a TV remote in-front holding a button down... u will see a light that was not there b4. so IR led's because the light is not visible to the human eye but is visible 4 some digital cameras. the main problem with this is testing it may become very expensive :s

but yes EMP is probs over board

Perverting the course of justice anyone?

The better way to approach it would be to either have a flash sensing unit (like they use in photography) to trigger an LCD film over your number plate to black out.*

Or, a flash sensing unit to set off your own flash in an attempt to over expose the image.*

*I do not advocate the use of any of these measures.

Was chatting to Nick from www.radars.com.au and he recently tested a high power IR LED and found it did nothing to " confuse " the laser locking onto your car. He didnt test it with a camera attached to the laser , just a laser gun , but yeh I dont think its going to do much against the new Poliscans.

So in other words dont waste any $ on IR LED's

are any of the old multinovas still been used? or are all these new cameras up and running?

Yes the old multi's are still being used (went past one the other day). AFAIK the poliscans are still only being trialled.

  • 1 month later...

I've gone past two of these new poliscans in the past few days. One was on hepburn ave and another was on beach road. My radar detector (escort redline) picked up the one on hepburn ave about 150m away in medium traffic, and picked up the one on beach road about 100m away with no traffic ahead and on top of a crest.

BTW how to the new red light/speed cameras work? My radar detector hasn't gone off at all sitting at the lights even when I saw someone speed up to get through the amber too late and run a red light.

Went through one of the new lidar things on Guildford Rd last week, plenty of notice.

Don't know how well the new redlight/speed cameras work.. apparently there's a dude working on the Kalamunda/Roe one most mornings lol

yer theres constantly a guy at the one at wanneroo and beach roads. it looks like hes downloading the images tho, its probably full after a couple of days with the amount of people i've seen get done there.

so if u get done but a new red light camera come back at night with a oxy and destroy the mother F$%@#er

i thought they would be hard wired

    • Ah yes, fair enough! I was purely thinking about cleaning the spokes and front of the wheel with the mitt. For the barrel the rag on a stick makes more sense. I've tried cleaning the barrels on mine and gave up in frustration. Between brakes being in the way or spokes being in the way and limited space to constantly move the car front and back it was just too annoying. The barrel being as shiny as the rest of the wheel sounds amazing though. At this point I'm not even sure if they have the same surface finish on mine. But I feel inspired now to find out.
    • I have a wheel cleaner pokie thing which is a glorified microfibre rag on a stick, and there is not sufficient clearance between the caliper and the barrel to clean that section. I just roll the car forward 500mm and have another shot at each wheel.
    • The "rag on a stick" is a easy way to fit in between the wheel spokes into all of the barrel Albeit I do have 10 spokes on the MX5 which limits the access to actually jam my hand in to clean the barrel, but it was also makes much easier to clean the 5 spokes on the Dunnydoore with it as well, as you don't have to worry theΒ  caliper getting in the way if you have at least about 15mm space between the caliper and barrel This of course depends if you actually have the clearance between the barrel and caliper, and the amount of OCD you have to get the barrels as clean and shiny as the face of the wheel The thing is bendy as well so you can actually shape it to conform to the inner lip of the barrel Β
    • FWIW, as well as a basic immobiliser/remote unlock (all basic units give you those 2 things), I would also install a 4g tracker in any car I cared about. Just hide it anywhere that won't be found in a rushed look and preferably get something with a built in battery backup so it stays online for a while when the battery is removed or flat While its not a car, when our car trailer was stolen in that den of crime Sydney about a decade ago, the cops were watching from the bloke's neighbour's lawn within about 2 hours until he started swapping the plates and putting up the gumtree ad.Β Β  Obviously it is still not undefeatable (eg parking it up for a few days somewhere without sky sight) but it greatly improves your chances of getting it back quickly and with less damage
    • Instead of magic keyphrases I wonder if something can be done with auto complete. Similar to how user names are handled already. When you type '@' and follow with letters, it'll search across all usernames. It might work to have the same for forum topics. Some key to trigger it and then text search across all thread names and it'll insert the name and URL when pressing enter.
