Well i have a r32 gtr engine which was having boost issues, so I pulled the turbos off and there are cracks in the wastegate housing.

While they are off I have come across r34 dump pipes for sale and after reading a few other posts some seem to say they are better than r32 ones.

Are these worthwhile getting? How much better flowing are they than the earlier models? Also do they bolt straight up to everything else?

Advice is greaty appreciated. cheers

If are ever going to change the dumps then you want to do it while you're changing the turbos, so yes do it now. There's a thread on the difference the dumps make, up to you to interpret what's in that thread..... I'm using the xforce splits (with modified o2 sensor mounting) cost me $280 from NZ(ebay) + $60 for the mod, and they seem to work fine. If the R34's are cheaper than that then they're a good option as they will be higher quality.

EDIT: Oh you'll have to either modify the o2 mount (as the 33/34 use different o2 sensors to the 32s), or get 33/34 o2 sensors. o2 sensors are a maintenance item at 40,000kms so you might as well put new ones in either way. The 32 and 33/34 sensors are a electrically different, but some have used them interchangeably with success. I stayed with the 32 sensors as i though it would be lower risk.

Ok thanks for that. i'll probably look at getting the r34 ones then as i have found some relatively cheap. So other than the mount for the oxygen sensor there anre no other modifications? Are they the same shape as the earlier ones and will bolt up to my existing exhaust?

Anybody else have an opinion also? I'd like as many as i can before I actually buy so I know I am doing this right

(not that i don't trust MrStabby:s advice

)

cheers

thanks mrstabby and gfunk I'm leaning towards the r34 dump pipe but would like to know if anyone elsee has experience with using them also? and are they a straight bolt up with only modification being for O2 sensor. Cheers

    • Thanks Pac!   I will reach out to them!
    • Yes, but 2 things of the top of my head, 1. Legalities of nitrous on a street car. 2. No chop chop. I fully understand that there's much cheaper ways to make power, and whilst a wet 50 shot is fairly cheap to install, bottle fills are expensive, and bottles always need to be refilled, and nitrous also has its own inherent issues with reliability, and tuning, from my experience of others using nitrous, it doesn't take alot to lunch a engine real quick if something goes slightly wrong when spraying, if I wanted a big chunk of additional powers, a spooly boy would make alot more sense, disregarding the additional engineering, supporting mods and other logistical issues of sticking a spooly boy on a car that came naturally aspirated from factory  In the end I'm not racing for sheep stations, and I don't really care if people make more power, or are faster than me, or spend less, or more than me, the only thing the car needs to do is drive around and make me smile, which it is doing now Really, I just want a shiny new intake to look at when I'm cleaning the engine bay, and of course, some more induction doorts, and maybe even that 5kw for that elusive 200hp cherry on top that I might get If the FAB9 intake plenum, TB and air filter box thing doesn't eventuate for whatever reason, Plasmaman do one, not as fancy looking, and a fair chunk of more cash is required when including the TB and other bits and pieces that are required to install it, but, it is another option that is available to me if FAB9 one does fall down (but I really, really.....really, want the FAB9 one though) TL;DR. You want what you want
