Gday all

My hicas is getting pretty noisy so i think its time i do something about it. I had one lined up to buy about a month ago but fell through :-(

I have found another for sale but its off a r34gtt, would it be the same, length and senors?

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers

i put a r33 gts35t one in mine . well i would have . the stagea one has the motor pointing down (FAIL) the r33 one has the motor pointing backwards way higher up .. the plugs and sensors are all the same . a skyline one will bolt in but 1 or 2 of the plugs are to short by a couple of inchs

have you checked the 4 ball joints ot the two bolts that hold it to the subframe ? gievn the amount of work the rack actually does i highly doubt its worn out

jack ut up and get some gorilla to try and "steer" your back wheels while you look to see whats sloppy

the noise is the actual hicas motor, it sounds like a cheap noisy fuel pump when i pull up to a set of lights or moving very slow

Sorry Punk72, I get a bit slack some times. Send me a PM $20 should cover freight and it yours

I actually posted a month or 2 ago about my replacement hicas bar being too short

It is suppose to be a R33/34 hicas lock bar

I measured it tonight

The stagea hicas rack is 425mm long

The hicas bar is 405mm long

So this was giving me major toe out

Will have to sort it out tomorrow with Justjap.

hicas does nothing below 80 kays ???????? .

put it in hicas diognostic and it will make the rear wheels go max letf to max right and back to centre every 2 seconds while the car is stationary so you can look under it and see what it is

Just because the hicas isnt in use doesnt mean its not running? i have pulled up and it was still doing its noisy thing so i jumoed out and felt everything around the hicas area and the

only thing that was vibrating was the black motor looking thing in the hicas setup.

I am going to have to give this diagnostic thing ago and see what happens.

cheers

update on this hicas problem,

bought a r33 hicas motor and swapped it over, noise totally stopped for a good hour of driving around town, then slowley came back getting louder and louder to the same as before :-(

In the mean time I have been searching the web and found a couple of pages say that if there is any problem ie motor or sensor stops working the hicas is unable of moving make it from 4 wheel steer to 2 wheel steer,

So I disconnected the motor and took for another drive, No noise!!

Has any one done the same for a long period of time and found any change?

another update on the hicas problem

bought a set of tomei hicas shims for $80 and locked the bloody thing off, gutted one of the spare motors i had and put it all back together.

looking at it you cant tell the difference everything is plugged in and looks stock.

noise has completely stopped and the car feels a lot tighter.

and removed the hicas dash light

I pulled a r33 hicas rack apart to see if i could find anything that would cause the noise, but only pulled half of it apart as i didnt have the right tools. One day
