Exhaust Gasket/manifold Borked? [video]

So after giving it a quick (yet within the speed limit) squirt up to mount henry bridge I was promptly stuck in traffic for 45 minutes and after a while I started noticing this really weird noise whenever I pushed the accelerator. You hear it under normal circumstances on big old fords and that kind of thing and I once heard it on my wife's car when her exhaust gasket went. I had all these thoughts going through my head of "maybe the fans weren't hooked up after I had the FMIC installed and I've partially cooked the head", "maybe the heat has finally killed the old coil packs".

I can't help but think giving it a hard drive and then immediately idling it for 45 minutes has done some major bad stuff . I couldn't even stop the engine because we'd crawl forward every 30 seconds or so.

Have a listen; what do you think?

sounds like the common gasket issue on the exh manifold

yeah sounds like gasket, mine went on the weekend.

hover your hand around the area, should be able to feel the exhaust coming out.

in the vid it kinda sounds like a blown turbo

but obviously if u cant feel ANY differnce in performance its not the turbo

If no change in the turbo in normal driving id say the gasket.

mani to turbo gasket will probably look like this, occurs at around 150,000km mark depending on general temps in that area

bout 40 buks from nissan, i have one in stock if u want to fix it quickly

Gasket, or giving it some juice might have snapped an exhaust stud (suddenly heating it up then cooling down in traffic).

Gaskets are easy, snapped studs are arseholes to get out, depends which one it is though.

if its manifold/head leak its more of a ticky noise, further away it is, the puffier it sounds, or could be both lol

When I had a snapped stud it sounded exactly like that.

Just hover hand over exhaust until you feel heat than narrow it down. Hopefully its a gasket.
