Gotta use Harry's timer.

Cheap as and pretty good. at teh start of your day, you set a point of interest on the pit wall. This is your start finish line, then away you go

If we do a track walk around you can even set sector points.

Hey NISMO, I just downloaded it. Looks ok, have you used it before?

Does that mean your the one I come and hassle when I can't get it to work?

Oh yeh, can you put wakie into it as one of the tracks?

Hey Dave,

haha, def will be happy to help stuff sorry set it up.

It actually works pretty good. It all works of GPS signals, so as long as you set your start/finish point its good to go. You also only have to do this once. eg I set Oran Park on it, used it on the GP circuit, went back 4 months later to do a south circuit day and it remembered the point and simply started timing laps once i turned it on.

Given the the iphone's GPS is not the best you do get some odd laps, but in general its good to see how you go across the day.

For $5 (what i paid when it was first released) its pretty decent.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem that Wakie is on his list of pre-programmed tracks. Will shoot him a mail about how to get it added, so far he's been very good with set up help.

Thanks mate, price has gone up though now 7.99 still a very cheap laptimer IMO

keep you eye out for a guy in a red 33 (plates:GR33DD) waving an iPhone around in the air looking really confused, that will be me.....hahaha

see you there

racechrono is better, you dont have to have a silly iphone and its free

does the iphone allow use of an external bluetooth GPS receiver? none of the built in GPS units are particularly fast and you get a much more accurate lap/stats using an external one.

umm, I don't think they do but I could be wrong. I know I could never get a bt connection with some of my mates nokias when I first got the phone but I haven't checked it since the last couple of firmware upgrades.

Surely this app will be better than trying to use a stopwatch?

BTW you know the only people who hate iPhones are the people who don't have one...lol....nah mine give me the shits a lot of the time

better than a stop watch yes, its mainly the GPS trace of your laps that takes a hit using the internal gps and the timing is closer to being within ~0.5s as they only update once a second vs the higher end bluetooth ones that update 5 times a second, though that gives you an excuse when you go off the track it was the GPS being random not you

:P

Thanks Shell. As a driver. I thought so but wanted to confirm.

I've been a member for a while now (joined last year) but never received anything. Was I meant to get a membership card or something? Only reason I know that I am a member is that I have access to the NSW members section.

I've used Harry's Lap Timer with the tom tom cradle and it works ok. You need to jailbreak if you want to use a bluetooth GPS. I have the wakefield start/stop line co-ordinates - you just put it in as a point of interest IIRC.

Co-ords please mr stabby!

+1.

Actually, have you used the export lap feature?

If yes, pick a clean lap, export it to your email, and send it to Harry's site. He should be able to use that to add Wakie to his track database :bunny:
