As most of you know I've been looking for a bike for a long time and I finally took the leap and got one this weekend. She's a beaut, 2008 CBR600RR and only had 2300K's on the clock :P really happy with the purchase and hoping to ride with some fellow SAU riders soon!

Nice buy James, but be careful on that. They are quick, and riding one tends to be a first place ticket for being a temporary citizen. I dont know a bloke who owns a quick bike and hasnt been to intensive care.....

Enjoy....

bahah I know right? but I know where he's coming from but I know the risks and I'm willing to take it :D

James should be good on it! as long as no cop scanners are involved :)

Bahaha thanks bez, it's not even funny how much I was thinking of getting one installed though, but I'd rather not blow my chances of getting PR here in Aus lol

YAY!!!!!! Go team honda! (Even tho I ride a suzi on the road :))

If anyone is telling you this is too quick, they are but they are probably the best handling, subdued bike for the road so it's a great one to live through :) Ride soon please!!! Actually you should come to Broadford for a track day we are doing on the 15th, you'd love it :D

Baha thanks for the faith Charli but I doubt I'd be ready for a track day just yet, no matter how tempting it is. Gotta get some Oggy Knobs and still need to get insurance (who are you with btw? I'm looking for one that does Third Party, fire and theft but I cant find anything that available). Would you want to collaborate on maybe making an SAU bike cruise?

looks like you got it from peter theivens/ old 1300kawasaki shop?

Hahah nope I was just visiting a friend @ peter stevens and getting some noice boots but it was a nice day and decided to get some quick snaps while the sun was out, good eye though

James, I had insurance with Swann, it ended up being around $700 for full comp, cheap because I put a 35 yo as 90% rider and me as 10% (it works). I recommend going with them as they have always been good, I used to work for CGU as well who are parent company to them and all that I saw was good results :(

GET COMPREHENSIVE. Seriously man, it's not like a car. I only got 3rd party fire and theft on my car because it has four wheels (and many other calculations that I can explain in detail later)... but the bike /needs/ comprehensive. The moment it hits the ground you're up for at least $500 to get it perfect again. And the likeliness that this will happen is far higher than a car. DO IT. Please please please. Go to www.swanninsurance.com and get a quote, put in someone you know with a license who is older as 90% rider and see how it goes.

Will set up a meet on the bikes so me thinks... will have to get a sunny day and go for a cruise :)

Nice bike James, I've benn in bikes for a long time and always loved the GTR. I just aquired an R34 V-Spec and my wallet took a big hit. nearly had to sell my old bike but persuaded the leader of the opposition (wife) that we can keep it.

She reckons a car is a car is a car no matter what the breed. I luuuurve the GTR R34 but still love my ol' black 2 wheeler.

Had it for nearly 30 years.

Here's acouple of pics of both.......I think you'll understand why I like it. If I sold it i'd never be able to afford to replace it. ( It's going to be a big part of my Super)

Cheers & beers

Jim

But I don't know anyone that old or anything! I did a fully comp check and they said it was around 4g's!!!! No way can I afford that!. I think my only option is 3rd party really, but $700 for fully comp is ridiculous! I'll have a look at swann now and see what numbers they through at me.

Nice ride Jim! That is a thing of beauty man really good condition, hope to see you on some cruises soon! Welcome to SAU!

Have you tried AAMI?We do heaps of work for them and i find them always the best for customers when it comes to making a claim.....I get arse-ssors regularly trying to cut back on parts and not returning the bike to pre accident condition....AAMI never touch my quote's and if there is any doubt wether damage was caused in the accident or not they always say "just fix it anyway"

    • I have to put something here in order to post the photos. From what I could gather there's more enthusiasm for modified cars now than there has been for years. There were probably more younger people there than older (me included lol) which was a good sign.  It did seem like the record least amount of representation of the 90's era hero cars on display though. Like maybe one or two examples of S-chassis Nissans, and maybe 3 or 4 R-chassis. By comparison there were a lot of Civics from that era but in all there were about 10 - 12 EG/EK Civic Type R.  Euro exotics are always there in large numbers, led by Liberty Walk...... say what you will about kids using markers to scribble on a Ferrari F40, it did seem like a stunt to infuriate Ferrari enthusiasts, or Ferrari itself. I wonder if there's something more to it. Either way LBWK have done some heinous things to a Lamborghini Miura this time. They should stop now.
    • Engines and drivelines are not war stoppers for me mate, busted arse bodies and un-obtainium parts and panels are though Both cheap Brumbies I looked at had trashed tubs and a fair bit of rust
    • Stock O2 sensors are narrowband. They're useless once you're away from stoich. IE, useless for what you're trying to do. 10:1 will read the same as 14:1 from the stock O2 sensors. That is, they'll read rich. The same level of rich.
    • I agree once misfires happen it's basically worthless, but the hope is you can see what's happening in the run up to that.
    • You should totally get a Brumby, and then come pick up the Subaru Liberty GTB I have here. EJ25 Turbo, 6 speed manual from the sti (just no dccd), and the good rear diff. Drop all that into a Brumby and go have fun!
