Hey guys,

I recently got myself a full Alpine R series system installed, and the sub box is just sitting in the boot with some extended cord to allow for some movement, but i've already had it disconnect 3 times while im driving or when I take a corner I can hear it tip over, even if I try to drive it smoothly.

Its an R34 25GT Sedan standard rear, where is a place I can mount it?

Also, how would you go about mounting it? I want to make sure its mounted well enough to be accepted for track use.

How much would it cost for me to have a fibre glass set up made? I can only imagine it wouldn't be worth the price, so im hoping for a cheaper alternative that will make it pass scrutineering at a track.

Thanks for any help

valcro !! lol. yeh umm i valcroed mine man. what i did was i cut out my own wooden sheet (didn't take too long, used carpet as outline n cut it abit smaller to be able to put it in the boot) then removed the old 1 which sits ontop of the spare, valcroed the carpet to that then valcroed the sub box to the carpet. very cheap alternative and pretty quick. cutting the wood took about 30mins tops to get it pretty spot on, and about 10-15mins to valcro everything and finish up. holds pretty damn well, however not sure how good it is for track use, i'm the average driver but do tend to take the odd corner or 2 a little harder then they should be =).

if your settling for the fiberglass stuff, theres the occasional box or 2 on ebay man. seen em go pretty cheap too, like 60 bux n stuff depending on your luck. good thing about em too is they sit in the corner so when ur boot is closed the metal under the boot lid holds the box n stops it from sliding all over the place. one of reasons i didn't go with that is cause my box is a ported, and also cause my box came with the sub n couldn't be stuffed changing. but i guess u can probably ask the guys to make you a ported 1 if you wanted it.

hope that helps, good luck

Sounds like a great idea shotgun, I guess with that idea i could just remove it for track use.

Arthur, your idea does sound like a more permanent one though, But isn't it risky to be drilling into the floor of the boot? I've heard a few horror stories of fuel tanks and other mishaps being cut into.

I think he meant, Velcro

it won't hold it , in a accident it will find its' way forward in a big way

a bracket to metal with proper bolts, rear deck , bracket behind the carpet into the computer bracket area

fiberglass box into the side panel is better but still needs attachment, eblow boxes aren't the best ones

easy to take out for track day , easy to take out for thieves ???

just an update. finished putting velcro in my brothers evo 7 just a few days ago. once again havn't put it on a track but i mean c'mon its an evo, and it aint stock. went for a test run around a few corners and i can tell you, its going absolutely nowhere....+ looks very clean can't see anything. but yeh iv seen the whole screw it down thingo and that would be the way to go if you really really think its gona move. n if you where still interested in the r34 fiberglass boxes im pretty sure seen a few recently on ebay. last 1 i saw sold for 60 bux. not much i'd say =)
