R32 4dr

hey guys,

i got a r32 4dr, the problem is, when i put my foot on the brake in gravel it makes a funny griding noise... anyone got any ideas?

Gravel in between the brake pad and disc? Lol.

llol, no because it doesnt do it on my r33, its coming from the brake pad/rotor/ABS unit... its not a gravel noise a metal scraping noise and the brake pedal becomes all clunky when i push it in

if the brake pedal feels funny, like pulsing, then it is the abs doing it's thing. it is stopping the wheels from locking and it is releasing and grabbing the brakes. i know the exact noise/feeling you are talking about.

Its the ABS releasing.

no you should be like "that is a normal feeling of what abs does when you dump on the brakes on a loose surface and it is stopping the wheels from locking up".

jump in any car with abs and drive along on grass or dirt and jump on the brakes and it will do the same thing.

which on gravel isn't always a good thing, at slow speed on some lose surfaces its a quicker stop to lock the wheels and dig in instead of trying to keep perfect traction. my r34 applies the abs on the rough grassy crap downhill outside my house and it scarily doesnt stop! but thats the tradeoff for not hitting that truck or not skidding out under brakes in the rain

the advantage of not locking up though is that you can still steer around the object better than if the wheels are locked

Yep when I had an R32 it did the same on gravel and snow. Wifes honda does the same. Both have (had in the case of the 32) ABS.

If its aok on tarmac that is...
