If you're not going to take up Twoogles offer maybe try to use the tuner to help against the builder. I mean no way that motor could of been gone after putting some boost through it. I think he knows he's made the mistake but doesn't want to come to the party with the rebuilding of it, again.

even if the original builder was to offer to fix it, I would hesitate taking it back,

there's been a few other issues that occurred during the build which have now made me lose all confidence in his workmanship.

1. When he installed the oil pump, he fitted the wrong gasket, causing it to leak instantly on start up, to his credit he did fix this

2. The extended sump which he welded himself had started leaking within a week (he didn't fix)

3. Now this knock..

Three strikes your out I believe?

Ill take one of those Pm's too please

I'd rather not divulge that information at this early stage.. I will keep everyone posted on future events

and pending on the outcome I'll reveal the builders name, I think this is both in his and my best interests

Most of the people who have had this situation on this forum just come straight on and say "Ohh those flamin mongrels at XYZ performance f**ked me engine, what do i do"

Well done :P

Nice one Dave...

Until it can be acertained what has caused the failure nothing should be assumed...i.e. it may be something that only destructive testing would have shown up. This is something engine builders cannot undertake with products...thats why i insist that guys only use certain brands/items im confident is going to be up to the task. Even big $$ Jap stuff gets slightly modified when im doing a big horsepower set-up so im completely confident of its ability to handle the high stresses they have to tolerate. A lot of parts are taken out of the box and simply bolted in asuming they are perfect ...thats why a lot of these builds fail early.

I have recieved a lot in my 14 odd years of Skyline ownership...there are some very selfless people who give a lot. Im now in a position to help...thats why ive put my hand up to assist.

paul (swiper the fox) is building my monster (800-1000hp 2.8) his expertise and knowledge of rb's, mostly rb26s is 2nd to none...

id take this offer up in a flash.... with fuel pump, power fc and injectors u wil b good for 350 to 400kw all day with those -5's

p.s tommo's engine builder n tuner r totally unrelated for those who dont know

Correct, I figured that out from his earlier post.

In my early days at Adelaide Engine we regularly did alot of maching for tune shops and on occasion (not all of them) we'd come across young employees assembling our machined parts with no qualification whatsoever and guess who got the blame when a motor went bang......subsequently, we'd pull some of these engines apart and on occasion found little balls of silicon trapped in an oil gallery where the assembler got happy with the silicon gun.

Needless to say, they'd get our labour bill quick smart......if on the other hand it was our fault, there'd be no charge obviously.

Correct again.

Sorry to hear. It's disheartening enough when you spin a bearing the first time, let alone twice...

Paul.. you the man. ;)

Paul is most definitely THE MAN

had a good chat with him on the phone today.. top bloke, really knows his stuff!

Sucks to hear David. You just can't catch a break!

If it is any help whatsoever, I have access to a 110,000km Series 3 R33GTR engine for sale for 4k in perfect running order. Not sure how long Fox would take to get your engine done and back to you, but if you want to get your car up and running in the meantime this engine has been very well looked after its whole life, and is only being replaced due to a right priced brand spanking new Vspec Nur engine being available

Thanks Andrew, appreciate the offer

however I am a bit cash strapped at the moment,

plus this is my weekender, so its not essential for me to be able to use the car in the meantime.

Cheers for offering though

Bit of a funny story..

This happened over a year ago while the engine was being put together the first time, I had the car parked on my front lawn for a little while.

I live on a quiet, dead end street in a half decent suburb so I thought it was quite safe leaving it there for a few nights.

Anyway.. so One day Luke (Heslo) came around and had a bit of a look at my car and says to me "Dude, you realise your cars unlocked"

I was certain that it had been locked! So we had a closer look and realised someone had tried to flog it!!

The ignition barrel was drilled out at the door had a small hole drilled (near the handle)

So these dudes, would have been all excited, thinking they're about to take off with a GTR! they couldn't have worked out why it didn't start??!... well here's a lesson for you douche bag!...... next time check it has a motor
