was on my way to safeway to pick up groceries in springvale. i turn off at the roundabout onto windsor and plan to turn right down buckinham to get there. half way down the street (short street by the way) i see this guy with a brief case about to cross the intersection. i saw him and he saw me but the guy still makes his way onto the road. at this point im thinkin hes one of those idiots that stand and wait on the street instead of the footpath for cars to pass before they cross but this guy kept on walkin. i break hard and stop with him on his toes litterally cm's from the left side of my bonnet/light. we look at each other with confusion. i decide to go again to turn right (thinkin ok must be one of those stupid incidents that u get once in a while) and just as i start to move he decides to walk infront of me again. once again i brake thinkin wtf?? as he continues to cross the street. as he passes i gesture my hand as to say whats goin on mate (no verbal exhange at this point) and the prick decides to turn back to the front of my car and read my reg to report me or somthing.....now that just pissed me right off!! so i yell out the window politely as my lil sis was in the car with me "what do u think ur doin? theres no crossin here u cant just cross the road like that" i then proceed to turn right (givin way to a pedestrian who wanted to cross as you would cause ur turning right?) and as i turn in the prick decides to cross the street again diagonaly infront of me. i stalked next to him re-enforcing my point that he just cant cross streets like that and drove off.

attached is a diagram of the incident:)

now what id like to know is whos in the wrong here?? windsor ave is classifed as the main street of the two (the line is orange and thicker in the melway than the other streets:D:D) i know u have to give way to pedestrians but my understanding is that u give way to them when your turning and when your on small roads that have to give way at intersections, not main ones. i mean u wouldnt see any sane person cross springy rd like that and expect cars to stop. would he do the same thing if i was in a mac truck instead of my line??..........aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrghhhh!!

anyways would like your opinions on this.

cheers.

stuf the cu*t

just run him over next time. How can he say he was in the right.

OR, next time get out and dont use nice words at him. I hate wandering pedestrians.

Ususally i'll just plant the foor on the brake and lock-up right infront of them.

I tell ya... a smokin/screechin car really puts the wind up the mongrels!

And even after that they have the nerve to abuse you for it :P

one day... one day i'll clean one up. Then we'll see what the Court has to say about ther pedestrains illegal behaviour for a change.

I hate bloody pedestrians! Used to love driving my old Patrol with bullbar and air horns :P Actually, thinking of putting air horns on my R33 for the same reason!

I always thought pedestrians had right-of-way in any situation, but a quick check of the VicRoads site states:

236. Pedestrians not to cause a traffic hazard or obstruction

(1) A pedestrian must not cause a traffic hazard by moving into the path of a

driver.

Penalty: 1 penalty unit.

(2) A pedestrian must not unreasonably obstruct the path of any driver or another

pedestrian.

Penalty: 1 penalty unit.

(3) For subrule (2), a pedestrian does not unreasonably obstruct the path of

another pedestrian only by travelling more slowly than other pedestrians.

i was going at around 60km/h down high st then this little old lady stood infront of me so i had to brake hard as i was literally going to kill her heading straight on. lucky the skidding of the car ended up on the other lane missing her by cm's. gee's some people just want to play with their life fair enough, but don't play with others.

I always thought that if it's at an intersection, the pedestrian actually has right-of-way. So you can't just run over him.

But then, according to the rule book, that only applies when they are crossing the road you are turning into. There's nothing about the road you are currently on.

Still, a bit of common sense would let the pedestrian cross if you have already stopped for the idiot. After all, another of the rules states that the pedestrain must not remain on the road for more time than is necessary; and if the 2 of you can't make up your minds who is going first, then you are assisting the pedestrian break that rule.

The amount of pedestrians killed on Victorias roads last year (which makes up the road toll mind you) was 41 out of 334 road deaths, which is 12%.. in most liklihood either elderly or drunk. The amount of sympathy for somebody who DOESNT LOOK when crossing a road (sober or not) is pretty much zero in my book. **** em i say!

While I'm at the lovely TAC site.. i found something else interesting:

People killed aged 18-25 in 2003 on the roads: 72 (a 7 year bracket)

People aged 40-49: 52 (a 9 year bracket).. not too far off the "deadly" bracket.

Drivers over 60 killed: 70 !!

Now when you look at the figures.. while there is always the "young drivers are involved in more fatal collisions that any other age" argument - which is true, looking at drivers over 60 is equally bad. Where is the campaign to defect the elderly, cops pulling over old ppl just because a cop wants to??! grr

Yeah Springvale, i always try to run Junkies over everytimes they cross when the walking signal is on RED and green for car YET they still walk cross thinking that the world is under THEIR feets.

Anyway and i always prove to them that their world will be under my wheels if they keep on doing that.

maybe i should make flyers of this and stick it on the forehead of future diickheads that decides to do the same thing.:):D

yeah come to think of it i should have done that at the time...all i was thinkin at that moment was not hittin the guy. and when u say one day ull clean up one...well my mates mate who aparrently speeds up or doesnt stop to scare those heros that stare at you while crossin like theyre tuff and stuff. well one day he did actually clean up some poor guy...the guy was apparently drunk so he didnt know any better.

yeah i guess....well i thought it would be common sense for the pedestrian to stop and let the car go as they should know that they were in the wrong instead of proceeding to cross. it was one of those awquard situations like when u see someone walkin towards u and u have to decide to go left or right and end up bumpin into each other, then u both change to the same direction and bump into each other again.....kinda like that.:)

What are VicRoads going to do?

Take away the offenders 'right to walk'?? :bs!:

If you had hit him, then it would have been your fault.

Even if you had witnesses to prove that he was causing an obstruction, if you hit him, and it went to court, you'd be the one paying his hospital bills and court fees.

It's day to day life in Springvale...... you're lucky it was only a pedestrian, most of the brainless gits that i encounter around here are sitting behind the wheel of a car that they have no idea how to control.

:)

    • Just wanted to pop in an update on my setup. The CD swap has been great, I love the mazworks housing for the overall simplicity. I ended up sealing my trans tunnel with a thin sheet of aluminum reused some of the holes on the trans tunnel, and laid some window sealing EPS foam around the edges. Works great, really quieted things down and sealed up the car.  As for the power comment. Right now I am also running about 650whp. with the way the bell housing is attached to the face of the transmission I have zero doubts it would be fine, mainly because the input shaft and main shaft bearings are seated into the bell housing adapter. This means the load is NOT on the bolts to maintain the power, rather into he casing of the bell housing; Yes the bolts are doing some work there, but with both shafts locked in zero worries.  End of the day, the Mazworks solution is the easiest and safest. no need to take your trans to a shop to get milled perfectly, it fits with minimal clearancing, and you can use all your existing clutch and flywheel.  Driving wise the CD has been great compared to the big box, I'll probably swap my final drive at some point. The serial 9 shifter is gooooood, my only qualm is how tight it is, it takes a fair bit to get use to, 5th and 6th are a bit eh/hard to find at times, but maybe I need re-adjusting, and I think my clutch master is very tired and needs a rebuild.
    • If you are keen, have a look at my build thread. Car is for sale for the right money or straight swap for a F80 M3 LCI.
    • Welcome mate.  No point in over thinking it, buying any one of those cars you mentioned is not a smart or logical choice with the availability of many "better" (re price to performance) cars available to you.  The heart wants what the heart wants, buy whatever it leads you too.
    • Hey everyone! Im so grateful to be apart of this community and ill do my best to be apart of this. Firstly, i'm not disclosing my real name due to in real life circumstances surrounding my privacy and public image (sorry lol) Secondly, The only thing personal I am willing to share is that I'm from Sydney and a descendant of one of Sydneys largest mortgage firms. I got gifted my first ever car, a 2022 Porsche Cayenne and I love it to death. Ive been driving it for about 5 or 6 months now and honestly Im so grateful for my parents for gifting me this vehicle. However recently I've been working my ass off to afford my second car (which I need help deciding soooooo community help me out please?). Once decided, im planning to try modify it myself. Recent I've been thinking about getting a Skyline, particularly a 25GT or GT-V, yes I know overrated as hell, but I'm also considering a Chaser which I recently came to love. However my dream is to one day own a 180SX (So hard to find clean versions and im not really into importing).  Lastly before I send this off, I want to apologize if I sound tacky or pretentious. I try not to and want to genuinely learn from everyone and anyone. (Im no expert in this area) Thanks for reading!
