Got to work this morning and saw the news. I thought that car and wheels looked way too familiar, and had a bad feeling it was.

Only saw these guys early last night too, what a waste.

My sincere condolences to the families as well. Couple of great blokes.

I now have known way too many people now that have lost their life on the road, even one is too many.

Take it easy guys, no one is immortal.

OMG i saw this today when i got to work. Thought it was such a tradgic accident. Makes it even worse to be someone you clearly all have so much respect for.

Condolences to all friends, family, and everyone else who knew the guys. I unfortunately did not get the pleasure, but i can see their memories will live on through the forum.

And props to you Nick, for doing the honourable thing, and making a thread for this.

terrible news, its also upsetting to see the media always jumps to the street racer scenario in circumstances like this.

Pretty sure I met these blokes at the meet a few weeks ago. I saw the news this morning and had a feeling that I'd seen the car somewhere.

Even though I had only met them briefly, it's still a massive shock.

It's sad when someone is killed in a crash, but it's even worse when a passenger is innocently taken too.

RIP boys.

Two awesome guys, last thing anyone wants to hear. My condolences to the families during this tragic time. Alex it's safe to say that you have all of our support during these tough times.

RIP guys

Absolute scumbags. Just shows nothing is sacred for the media. They don't even know the facts of the situation, so much for journalistic integrity if there is such a thing.

Thank you guys for your support, I had organised a Track day for Gerards Birthday on the 20th of May.

This is still going ahead as a tribute to both Tom and Gerard, they were amazing guys and no words can express how much they are loved and will be missed.

It is a speed off the streets day, so if you were friends with either of the boys or wish to pay your respects, you are more than welcome to attend.

I will pass on all your kind words to the families involved.

It is a sad day indeed, but any words of support are comforting.

I was going to make comment to this in my post but wasn't sure if it was appropriate of me to given the circumstances.

My condolences to all affected by this.

As Nick said, the media will likely be trawling forums looking for anything they can use and are already painting negative pictures about the accident;

Nine News understands that text messages are sent out weekly to about 20 people organising meets on the highway.

I'm so sorry that this has happened. We've lost a lot of good people over the years in this club.

    • Hey mate give Autotechnica a go, I recently got some Comfort PUs and rails from them, they're comfy and look great highly recommended! https://www.autotecnica.com.au/part-finder/nissan/skyline/r32/
    • Honestly, for a daily I would gladly rock a Camry. The more disposable the better. People drive horribly out here and road conditions are awful.
    • Verify it's going into each of the 4 gears in normal acceleration, make sure the torque converter locks up over ~65-70 kph or so at low throttle opening. If you ease into the throttle at those speeds eventually you should get a "gear" between 3rd unlocked and 4th locked. It should downshift eventually if you floor it at 65 kph too. Get some Matic D ATF and drain the pan, check for signs of sadness in fluid and drain plug magnet. Top off to the correct level afterwards. If the transmission is worth saving you can drop the pan on a second drain and change the filter while you're at it. These are not complicated transmissions, at least compared to modern stuff.
    • A seat I find stupidly comfortable to sit in is the one in a friend's Merc Race Car. It even has the huge wings that wrap around your head. Best ever. Only issue is climbing through his scaffolding he put up in the doorway of the car... Ha ha ha. I sat in that seat for a couple of hours doing wiring. Another stupid comfortable seat I find, especially if my back is aching, is my OMP fixed back bucket seat too. I'll just sit on it when I'm exhausted in the garage sometimes to relax!
    • I just got off the phone with Dean from Vosta in Brisbane. They are the ones that do the replica seats and they have a shop full of seats for my to try out. Lovely guy.  I haven't decided whether to go genuine or replicas, I'm leaning towards Genuine at this point but who knows.  Also thinking the STRADIAs are the way to go VS the GIAS since they have a lower hip edge and would be easier to get into. Don't really like the idea of arm rests on the models to the right of this diagram either, maybe they can be removed?
