Speedo Not Working

need some help or any ideas

my speedo does not work but everything else does

does anyone have the slightest clue on how to fix??

All my instruments were playing up when i first got my latest S1. Speedo used to stick at a fixed speed - some instruments used to go to zero or maximum. I used to pull the bettery leads off and reconnect them and things would work for a while. It seems the connections at the back of the cluster dry out. I don't whether you can just pull the cluster out and touch up the connections with a soldering iron. Mine have stopped misbehaving for no apparent reason. Just to be sure though have a look under the car and check the speedo drive on the transfer box and the associated wiring

everything else works but the speedo on the stagea

i've taken the cluster out thinking it was a loose connection and pluging it back in

still not working

this might be a newbie

does the speedo work on a cable system or electronic wire??

does anyone have a pic or description on the location of the speedo drive and wires i'm new to this?

Speedo drive is in the transfer box (behind the gearbox) on the driver's side. It is electronic so wires go to ecu and up to dash. If you can get hold of (buy or borrow) an ecutalk then you can see if you are getting a reading at the ecu so you can eliminate the drive as a problem.

yeah had a look at the wire doesn't seam to be any damage to it

unplugged it and plugged it back in still not working

might have have to order one of those ecu talk cables next week to see if its a wire problem!
