Hey,

I know it seems like I post a lot of pretty basic questions up, but I wasnt a car enthusiast all my life and I missed out on a lot of beginners stuff that most people already know, and I think its better to ask stupid questions than continue on assumed knowledge or no knowledge.

Anyway, Ive attached some photos of stickers and parts on my car that I don't know what they are or what they mean, any information would be helpful.

1: (red/white) is the tyre placard showing what the tyre pressure should be in KPA

Weird...this should have been removed and replaced with an English sticker/plate during compliance.

2 + 5: (ENEOS)

These look like "next service due at" stickers.

AT = Auto Transmission

CV = CV Joint

etc

3 + 4

Where are they ?

They look like amps or something

6: (Green/Black)

Air con information (probably from the last air con service / last time air con was regassed)

7: (Black/White)

Emmissions information ?

3 and 4 are both from Mitsubishi, which confuses me a lot being in a Skyline :)

Its mounted just to the right of the had unit under the steering wheel, to the left of where your leg is sitting toward the clutch.

It has a card slot and the little diagram is directions on how to insert the card.

The theories ive heard about it are that it is a tuner shop details card (but the car is stock), its a credit card swiper (and it might have been a taxi in japan) or that its like one of those cars that can be rented and they have cards to start and time your use.

Im not really sure what it is, but its weird to me that it has mitsubishi written on it

Nah contrary to popular beleif they were never used as taxi's.

Wouldn't be for a tuner / workshop.

Possibly a rental car...

Alot of stuff on Nissans has the Mitsi logo.

On both my Ceffies the Crank Angle Sensor, some other little electrical stuff and bits of the air con have that logo.

Is there any wiring going into those card machines ?

Japan is 10 years ahead of us in technology.

In 2000, the ETC in your Skyline would have been the bee's knee's start of the art niftiest shit ever. A decade later "ours" might be smaller than that, but Japan would have even smaller, faster and smarter ones by now :wub: haha

Your probably right about that... But do you think they eliminated the card system? I mean, considering its a card, it does have a limit to how small it can be.

don't forget, sim cards used to be the size of a credit card.. :P

also they car was probably made big so that it was easy to remove or install if you bought a new car, or if it was something that needed to be replaced often. imagine if your credit card was the size of a sim card. it would be a pain if you had to try and swipe it through a machine everytime you bought something.

3 and 4 are both from Mitsubishi, which confuses me a lot being in a Skyline :)
Probably because it's made by Mitsubishi Electric, as distinct from Mitsubishi Motors.

(There are numerous "Mitsubishi" companies in Japan, from when the original Mitsubishi conglomerate was broken up by the US following WWII. They all use the three diamonds logo - Mitsubishi literally means "3 diamonds")

    • Hello! I'm new here, I have an R33 GTST that is currently being finished up! Last year was pretty rough, blew two stock turbos so I decided to build the car. Has been down since November, but I get it back next weekend!
    • Hello, I believe my car was imported to America in the 2000s by Kaizo Industries. Would anyone be able to help me find more info on them? I've only found all the basic stuff like that paul walker bnr34, them being shutdown by feds, just stuff like that. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
    • I am using Motec M150.  I am not working on the car myself actually.  My workshop is giving all these info, they are quite reputable in the industry and are very familiar with Motec and RBs and have done a few big setups with VCam and single turbo on RBs.  In fact, they built and tuned my engine from day one.  But they are stumped with my engine at the moment and cannot work out how come the compression is so low with the VCam. They told me that they have now swapped in some Kelford cams (without the VCam) and can achieve around 130psi compression and the low end torque is better, but now the engine is doughy as.  It boosts and peaks at more than 1000rpm slower, with twin HKS GTIII RS, it doesn't get full boost until over 5000rpm. I have always thought the VCam was a bit disappointing at the low rpm. To a point I had to ride the clutch a fair bit to get up a small hill from stand still.  That was when I had a clutch.  Now changing to a 8HP, I don't have that luxury and this problem has become a major issue. I am beginning to think the VCam never work since the day it was installed.  Maybe it was just sitting at the most advanced point, that is why it went good at top end but very ordinary at the bottom.  Therefore, with the help of the Holinger 6 speed and paddle shift, as long as it was moving, it drove pretty good.
    • yeah, there's a country that recently started importing Skylines, I blame them.
