Hi folks.

I have just got myself a really clean low millage r33 gts-t manual

I always change all the fluid when I buy a car and use synthetic where possible.

I have been reading through catrol/nulon sites etc and have written down the recommended syn oils for the engine, gearbox which I will buy this weekend.

The confussing thing is the diff. I know these are an LSD and they are bolted into a performance car which screams for synthetic LSD oil..

however all the websites recommend a non LSD mineral oil around the 75W-90 range...

what are peoples thoughts on this? should I not be using an LSD oil? and why not recommend a mineral?

I was thinking a 85W90 full synthetic LSD oil?

really keen to get peoples insite on this

thanks!

the skylines aren't so much a "performance car". more a sporty family car. and also what the sites recommend as the oil would be based off what nissan originally specified. if you look into what engine oil is recommended you will find that a base mineral oil is probably all that is recommended as well. this doesn't mean that you have to stick with mineral oil. you can go synthetic if you want.

I've used Castrol SAF-XA 80-90 for the rear diff , if you have a look in the stickys in maintenance or do a search you will find plenty of info on diff oils.
