Get a HKS mushroom pod, pop that where the factory airbox goes. Make/buy a box and give that box at least one large feed of cold air from under the car or from behind bumper, preferably two.

Will be much better than factory airbox imho. You will gain valuable kw's for an n/a engine and the engine will also rev more freely meaning increased acceleration.

I see many people saying intake is useless, factory airbox etc but it comes down to personal expectations imho. Just consider the person saying it's useless might be someone that expects at least 20rwkw from a mod or something especially if they have a FI car. I love n/a's myself and have noticed even 5wkw difference and given the chance again, would do all the mods again haha.

E.g. On my previous car (v35), alot of people say it's not worth doing intake, just stick with factory box and put in a panel filter and a smoother intake pipe.. i had that for awhile then changed to a HKS cai kit and noticed the difference easily and straight away. Two other passengers did too - Gave very different characterisics.

To a point you are correct - however it will always be easier to get power out of a bigger displacement engine.

You had an n/a 3.5L engine - any "power" mods you make to bigger displacement engines will always give better results than smaller engines.

For a 2.5L RB I'd just stick with high flow panel filter and a high flow cat. If budget permits a set of extractors.

Hi all,

From what i have read in these threads it seems the K&N filter is not a good filter to use and the reason being is due to the filter spray which they recomend to be used on their filters. What happens if you don't use the spray and if you do only use it lightly.Do you guys think this could be a plan or would i be wasting my time, i hope not as i've just ordered a K&N panel filter and it should be here after the weekend? I have a V35 250GT. :/

K&N filter is just fine. Not much extra power to be made from the VQ25DD (or even the VQ30DD). I'd be more concerned about the maintenance of the direct injection system - if not maintained - it will rob you of more power. ---> http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Di...gt-t277914.html

VQ series engines really win for having excellent torque throughout the rev range.

    • Hey everyone!!  I've noticed that whenever I do my oil changes, after putting 4L in, the oil level sits at the top mark in the dipstick. This is after letting the old oil drain for a very long time too! I've checked the oil level daily for the past few mornings. It happens every time and it's confusing because all the threads say that it should take about 4.7L (With some just adding the full 5L) My next thought is to figure out if the dipstick I have is correct so could someone please tell me the length of the RB25DET engine oil dipstick?  I've checked images of some of the genuine dipsticks, but none of them have the length in it. https://justjap.com/products/genuine-nissan-engine-oil-level-dipstick-fits-nissan-r34-skyline-c34-stagea-c35-laurel-y34-cedric-gloria-rb25de-t-neo?currency=AUD&srsltid=AfmBOortQXofgmiHVRKuIaiKuygL4k0Ewp68c3isGZk0vvKOJ7Yqf3iB However.... the engraving on the genuine ones say 05002 while mine says AA000. This makes me believe that maybe I have a wrong dipstick? I just want to confirm before I buy a new one. The car is a fresh import from Japan so I don't have details of the previous owner to ask him. Thanks in advance 🙏🏾
    • Sport. I didn’t rebleed it cause I just removed the slave and left connected.    I will change line and slave and see how it goes.
    • Oh and how is the rattle when foot is on the clutch ?
    • Did you get the sport or track ? From what the documentation says the uniclutch has a small amount of movement to disengage.  So your story of tricky pedal setup seems common.    Hopefully you got it bled up too, as the bite point moving around is usually either plates wearing in or air in the line.
