Looking good so far, the final tune will be a more accurate tale of how it drives

So far it looks like a lot of wheel spin though so it should be fun to keep in a straight line

with my 275 federals on the rear it had rubbish traction in 1st and 2nd but 3rd wasnt to bad (spinning a little but still progressing forward) but 4th gear hooked up and it just goes.

with the 7psi spring in the gate boost came on lazy which aids traction so thats about to be destroyed on monday when the boys at mercury retune it with the 14psi spring and id say traction is lost up to 4th on the 275 federals!

but the people that know me know that i hate not having traction, thats why i used to run RE55's on the street. so ill be chasing wider tires and wheels to get this down.

when its tuned on e85 i think its clearly going to need a decent width full slick. have to just wnat and see but ill update the forum when it comes to that.

Bring it Jay, Bout time you got your arse to time attack mate. Looks Hawt. :)

thanks noel, i got new brakes coming and all new suspension parts plus new wheels and full slicks. wont see me at lapping before then, but in the mean time there will be plenty of test and tunes and dyno comps to promote the new sponsors.

ok so the boy at mercury motorsport changed the wastegate spring from a 7psi to a 14psi spring to bring on boost faster and get more mid range.

The new tune was on slightly less boost, (20 psi down to 19.5psi) and the dyno shows that the 14psi spring gave 25hp more power in the mid range.

The boys at mercury also did a 2nd run with my rear muffler taken off the exhaust, (the rear muffler is a hks super drager muffler that we think is 3inch) my exhuast system is 4 inch down to 3.5 inch at the diff then the 3 inch muffler.

by taking the muffler off the car made an extra 32hp which now give me a total of

524.3 hp on 19.5psi on pump fuel with the limiter at 7100rpm.

ill be looking at putting a full 4inch exhaust and mufflers on the car soon.

here is a photo of the dyno sheet and a photo of the car on the dyno

today the car was on the hoist to install a PWR power steering cooler on, due to the pressure the power steering pump will get from wide full slick tires.

also some brained lines were installed on the brakes with new racing brake fluid. The brakes at the moment are still relatively standard with standard Nissan calipers front and rear with 301mm EBC slotted rotors with EBC red stuff pads on the front and 298mm project mu SCR and greed stuff pads rear.

this area of the car will certainly be changing in the future but i feel that i need to get the car out there again with the new engine and to see what is exactly needed.

im racing at queensland raceway this tuesday on the sprint and clubman tracks, if your free come out for a look!

photos are of the front and rear brakes that i have for the moment!

Think you need a 20 psi spring, unless the boost curve is helping those poor rear tyres, are you considering traction control?

the 14psi spring is great. boost is only tuned to 19psi on current tune.

did you see the photo of the michelin full slick track tires thats 3 post back mate?

and there are a few things left on the car to be done with suspension and mods that promote the rear to squat under power and not to bounce back up quickly.

traction control has not be consisted as there isn't a problem just yet on this tune and there is so many other things to play with to get traction.

How did you find the brakes mate?. I've always thought the factory calipers are very underrated.

Neil.

hay Neil, mate yes i do agree i believe that the standard brake are underrated but still at the speeds i was carrying was still to much for them, today i was maxing 4th gear out at QR on the main stright by the flag tower and wasn't braking till half way in 5th. my speed tacko doesnt work so i dont know what speed that is but its over 200ks.

update onto today, traction is still an issue coming out of corners, its fine when im straight from 2nd onwards when im straight though.

i have no down force on the rear so a wing and rear defuser will help and also doing a mod the takes out the factory anti squating needs to be done to let the rear bit down and grip.

oil catch can needs a drain line going to the sump so that going to be done next and also getting a custom sump made as mine is still standard.

i have some photos of it on the trailer but once i get some of the car going round the track ill post them up.

thumbs up

Getting much blow by?

The wheel fitment looks great, are the guards rolled?

by the 2nd last session it over flowed a little, but i have no idea how much if any oil was already sitting in the catch can from power play, for my last session the boys emptied the catch can and i went out a did a the 5 hot laps then came in and it had 25mm in there.

i think its better to have a drain line back into the sump then to have less oil in there from it blowing back.

the car gets new oil after every track day also.

So you don't have the mines baffles?

I put them in and zero blow by :P

plus that's a heap easier than adding a fitting to the sump, making a line etc

    • There's a thread over on PF.com where this has already been beaten to death. I make this point only because the report that you're referring to is already out of date. They have walked back some of the silliness, including the need to apply for (and risk losing the application fee, if not granted) a permit to work on your own car on your own land. But there is still a lot of silliness left remaining. Victoria is a f**king shithole. Has been since way before we started calling it Brackistan. f**king nimby woke Stalinist nightmare of a place.
    • I’ll go last point, For me it’s, can I do better relying on the expertise of u experts in the field but my point was, is there a way and a will to sticky important tried/true/tested facts that come out of a question relating to each area of improvement. I mean like not losing valuable info when u end up relying on google without success. Some times. I just see so much knowledge being passed but unless u are a guru or lucky, the diamonds end up hidden in our forum sorry guys I’ll leave it at that respect

    • I did a bit of googling, the color MCM used was Galaxy Grey from House of Kolor. This is actually a colour I picked out about ~10+ years ago (or more). This one is a stock BMW colour, I guess over the years I figured it was smart to get an OEM colour that was pretty common for all of those sensible reasons one can think of..
