Hi,

I got only 1 key for my car and I'm thinking to get a spare key.

Can it be done by anyone?

Because i think new car will have chip inside the keys to prevent theif.

i know my mate has a toyota, an found the instructions for how to program the keys. nissan should be able to encode a new cut key thou.

If the key looks like this

then there is no immobilizer/security chip etc and you can get a blank normal key cut which will operate the central locking and the ignition etc.

No, Mine is just a normal key, there is no lock and unlock button just a cheap key, that's why I'm getting a new key

Go to a proper key cutting place..like the ones in shopping centres

Dont go to hardware stores or similar places theyll cut the length too long..

Most key cutters in shopping centres have nissan keys with the black plastic mine did !

i wanted the same thing, but the shopping centre ones sent me to Rechenberg Key people and they said I had to get the four digit cutting code (either from Nissan or from the door lock assembly). I bought one of those funky gtr key blanks. I was wondering if anyone else had similar experience or knows where to read it off the door lock.

They were gonna charge me abou $80 to take off the door cover & look at the lock.

Any ideas? Ive taken off the door trim before but woudlnt know where abouts to look on the lock itself

go to nissan with proof of ownership and the car and they will cut it for you while you wait, off the original key cutting codes from japan.

Ive met erik and he is a bit dodgey looking so id want owership proof for sure
