i have a r32 gtst and have put a manual turbosmart boost controller to lower the boost that was on my car (at like 13psi with just hose from turbo to wastegate, maybe bit more now with controller on), although i can't seem to get any adjustments from it. I've also got a wolf3d so no need for fuel cut defender. Also got new smaller braided hoses put on so more restriction. I've got a feeling its somthin wit the wastegate acuator.....like a shortened rod or upgraded spring??? anyone got any idea wot could be the matter or how to check if its the actuator?? i'm in glen wav if anyone wants to help me out. also some form of restrictor plug maybe help???

cheers

ben

The minimum boost cannot be altered without altering the wastegate - as this is set by the spring in the gate - a bleed valve will only allow the boost to be raised, not lowered.

The wastegate actuator spring resists boost pressure, and when the boost pressure exceeds the spring rating, it will allow the gate to open. Bleeds and restrictors reduce the amount of boost pressure going to the wastegate, thus raising boost.

Wastegates are pretty easy to swap, if you put an add in wanted to buy section, or even in swap section - I dont think you would have to wait long to find one.

I gotta know, why are you trying to lower boost? Most people want more.

well say the min boost at the momment is 13 - 15 psi, wouldn't this mean that somthin has been modifyed in the wastegate. cos the stock boost on a r32 wouldn't be more then like 7-8psi. its just not adding up to me. so i want to get the car back to stockish boost and then with the boost controller be able to increase it a bit to wher ei want maybe to like 10-11 psi.

13 or more pounds of boost is just a bit too much for my car i think, wit the mods i got, don't have a front mount yet either.....
