no i won't.

haha

nah i went out monday night n got driven around in my mates VT commode.

and while they are nasty pieces of gutless uninspiring shit... i must admit it was nice to get out of the back seat and have my own door to get out of...

kinda made me miss my cefiro a lil bit...

so i came home all starry eyed for a JZS171...

...then i found out the difference between crown athlete n crown majesta... and realised i would rather a majesta :)

i don't want another turbo car - i want a V8!

Andrew - to be quite honest it's not that they're cheap really... if anything they're appropriately priced - let's be honest, as far as a japanese owner is concerned they're a ~12 year old car that needs inspections done every year now...

...and many are nearing 100,000km which everybody KNOWS that means the car will explode any day now

so if anything they're quite reasonably priced...

...there's one at USS that goes up tomorrow in Tuubu...

it's 202 black onyx.

101,000km

1UZFE

4 stars

2002 build

black paint with tan leather interior

has either aftermarket height controller - or aftermarket coilovers... either way it's lowered.

rims look like weds kranze somethings's's?

kristian would you mind letting us know (pm if you want) (or inbox my facebook) how much this goes through at?

http://74.53.162.34/imgs/4IuzCwB6Lua4jzKEDpTRXZOJDqxPBttFSc4OQ2ixKQxJMKqEEwioAi8rxrwAZuoS49MetAUABs

auction ID is apparently:

FUN3722

because ^^^ that car is what i would be trying to import...

i know that compliance is cheap on a test car... but at any rate... i simply cannot justify waiting around for a year or so to await testing etc..

when after getting my damn car delivered to me here out in perth in the year 2012...

...i get this:

http://74.53.162.34/imgs/pfzFGIAwxKq6oMmA1VwoTfteFRgkjRGatRzDLvnh9gWmuknWIbbNSbNae2

:/

unless kristian is keen to broker me a white fridge mobile, then comply it... then i on-sell it as someone's project car..

....THEN get a 202 black onyx baller one ;-)

You are right about the price...silly me is still in the world of people asking 15k for a 20year old Gtst

well... that's australia, i guess... in some instances i can kind of see their justification...

...i mean (sorry to talk about soarers) but Masato is selling his soarer at the moment i think he wants 23K for it...

which YEAH it's a lot of money... but..

where else can you get a 2 door sports coupe with all the features that come with a soarer, plus adj suspension and wide body vertex ridge kit and SSR 19in wheels etc, with custom paint that's actually tasteful etc...

i mean in those instances i can kinda see where THOSE owners are coming from...

one guy is selling a black R33 GTR for 30 grand... and while that price sounds ludicrous for a 15-17 year old car...

..fact is - it's immaculate. and you can't get a similar car for that price.

the japanese market is strange. over here - if a car is modified. it decreases the value, it's labelled as "cop bait" and the car is worth nothing unless you keep every single receipt in a shoebox.

over there... mods add value to the car.

but yeah - i envisage the crowns to be priced accordingly.. that is either:

scenario 1

valued as what you would expect to pay for a 10/12 year old car that's white n silver two tone that needs shaken inspection in about a months' time.

scenario 2

valued as what you would expect to pay for a 10/12 year old car that's black onyx paint without a scratch on it. kept in parking garage, looked after leather seats with books and service history, a few mods that keep the car looking like a new car.. and brand new tyres too...

price your budget around that :P

Yeah there are some cars out here that are worth the coin...Im happy with what i paid for mine even though i know you can buy them for 1500 bucks these days

Youre talkin gaboot the Black 33 R in the FS section on here right? If so I would give my left nut for that car! It is so nice! and imo he is asking too little for it.

Quick question on the topic of Toyota Sedans...is the JZX100 Cresta avaliable under sevs? or Just the Chaser and MkII...I would assume they are but Ive never seen one.

the guys on the JZX forums told me they were, but they may have been having a laugh because AFAIK they are not on the SEVS list...

and i dunno i actually saw it on soarercentral. it's balck... immaculate and has CR-kais

and a certain in-demand custom plate.

perosnlaly if i were him i'd be carrying that car to my grave. i wouldn't even pass it on to my first born incase they get it wet.

mmmm... only way i'd have a white one is with black interior...

or leather..

and besides - sif buy that one!!! no sunroof!!! ahaha

you NEED a sunroof..

NO LEATHER? NO LIFE!!

but nah the white one's nice... i do like white cars :)

i like both cloth and leather, cloth is quieter and cozier than leather to be honest

and man up - if you own a black car it means you have to wash it once a week or so...

...if you own a black car it means you have to give it a detail every 3 months - big whoop :)

least you have a wicked looking car that way! :)

you only get swirls if you:

a)polish your paint using a scourer

b)take your car onto a gravel rally and cover it in red dirt. then use a nasty cut compound mixed with water on your paint without washing the red dirt off of it

you dont get swirls if you're not a retard about car maintenance :P

  • 1 year later...
  • 7 months later...

Correct!

There's a good reason you're hearing this from me first - we were the ones who got the S17 series on SEVS in the first place, and have been working hard on it with the workshops for the 18 months from then till now.

Two workshops, one in Melbourne, one in Sydney, now have compliance plates for:

JZS171 - Crown Estate sedan and wagon (1JZ-GTE)
UZS171 - Crown Majesta sedan (1UZ)
UZS173 - Crown Majesta (1UZ and AWD)

Landed and complied, you'll be looking at prices from $13-20K depending on kms and condition, the wagons are the most expensive.

No doubt our rivals will email you about it once they read it on the Iron Chef Facebook page ;)

    • And if you want more power, more reliably, and cheaper, go get the Aussie RB... The 4L Barra and put that in instead.
    • No cats will keep discolouring the rear bar. Sends white paint a weird yellow stain. Cut and polish normally gets it out, but you'll be doing that every fortnight I found.
    • Both heads will be equally reliable or unreliable depending on what you do to them.  Stock the RB26 head will flow more. You have access to the stock intake ITB manifold on the RB26 cheaply which flows really well(1000hp+).   Arguably more aftermarket support for RB26, though in Aus we love our RB30 SOHC heads too.    The only downsides to the RB26 head is if you have a VL commodore and want to keep the SOHC look.  Where you may have an issue is drilling out the rb30 block for the bigger head studs but if you are building a big power motor you'd probably put bigger studs on the SOHC head too.  This is just about finding a good machine shop, sometimes easier said than done.  RB30 head worked can make big power just like a Rb26 head, so really it actually more comes down to what your preference is for your car.  People now even making billet versions of both.
    • 2630s work perfectly well. There is something to be said for just using the 30 head, as it saves all the pain of the conversion, still makes tons of power, still sounds cool, etc etc. 2630 will obviously make more power again, but the differences are not stupidly big. It really depends on whether you're racing for sheep stations or not. If it's dead serious, then it's a 26 head. If it's just for fun, it could go either way. But the 26 head and the effort to get it set up, etc etc, is part of the fun.
    • I've been building a 26/30 for a few years now. I've had the head built with all the good stuff. I had a 32 gtr but blew it up and yes its all going into a vl but im looking for some advice from some RB nuts on pros and cons on putting a 26 head on a 30 bottom end is it worth it Works are as follows Head -Extensive porting 1mm oversized supertech valves Supertech double springs Supertech valve guides Supertech titanium retainers Tomei solid lifters Tomei 270 x 10.25 cams Head drain Bottom end series 2 rb30 block Cp ceramic coated pistons Eagle rods Romac balancer Oil restrictions  O ringed blah blah spent a fortune And will get a girdle because the 30s arent used to handling that much rpm Nitto billet oil pump Hypertune plenum 6boost mani Refurbed astra pump thats the cover for it in the boot I did have a precision 6262 but sold it because drag car life. Currently building the ass end full 4 link floater rear end with a 2 speed  But the dilemma i have is my mate rekens I should just stick with the 30 head for reliability. Has any one had any issues with mounting the 26 head ie compression blowing gaskets etc. Just looking for some advice from people who have gone down this route. Here's some photos. Blew the oil pump in the gtr and decided to rip the motor out at the time and do a full build only to find it had been a repairable write off so went down this path.
