my car makes a whistle noise at about 3500 rpm and a bove and when i take my foot of the gas it makes kind of a sneezing noise the higher i change gears the louder it is.

Your running a pod filter arnt ya

my turbo timer won't let me lock the car whilst it's counting down...kinda making it obsolete. I've found out that they're a little useless, as my EGT will give me a better indication of when to turn the engine off. My turbo timer is mainly used for it's other functions now (HKS Type-1).

Found another issue - I can't adjust the height of my steering wheel. The locking thing which you move down to move the steering column up and down is stuck. I might have to use some ingenius ways to loosen it...

Auto right?

Both my jap cars have done this (supra and skyline). I think its just so you know your in reverse, like a truck reverse alarm :D

I think its factory in autos.

This confuses me rather than annoys, but :

Every Time I put the 'line into reverse, there is a loud 'beeping' coming from the dash area.

At first, i thought it was a parking radar or similar, but no-matter how close I reverse to a wall, the beeping is constant.

(This is only audible inside the car, but is at the same rate as a truck reverse beeping)

Grr!!!

i i go 2 drive my car, with in 5 minutes of it first running, when you put the clutch in the revs go up 2 1500

goes away as soon as its warm,

This also happens in my S13 SR20det Silvia when cold. I don't think it's a problem, it's normal when the car is cold.

I know you meant this as a joke, but a friend of a friend (I have met him, he's not one of thise non-existant friend of a friends) bought a SW20 MR2 off a Japanese lady who was sent the car by her son, and got $2 grand off the price cause she thought the blow off valve sound meant that something was wrong with the gearbox!

Hmm, it actually seems kinda harsh now, ripping off someone who doesn't know about cars... :) O well, seemed funny at the time :(

mine has the same thing but the japanese owner has pulled out the plug to the little grey box under the dash

EDIT - it still makes it it was the speed warning that was unpluged along with the headlight buzzer

My GTR 32 does the climate control bit and now the front wheel torque guage on dash moves as if appliying torque to front wheels, but with no hard excelleration, it never used to do this unless it was supposed to when excellerating hard, i have new tyres and profiles are all the same. Has enyone experienced this, it basically follows the tacho??????

  • 1 month later...

Does anybodies AFM to TURBO duct suck closed at resonable boost?

Jees, wouldn't it be a great idea to replace the rubber duct with an alloy one to eliminate any sucking closed....

Well, have I got an deal for you.

Check my sig

i am my cars turbo timer, like a tight arse, i take it easy on the last few kays approaching destination and then before exiting the car i let it idle for 1-2 minutes.

Here in sydney we can get fined for leaving our cars running without owner/passenger in the car, also get fined if we leave cars unlocked while paying for petrol at the counter.

F#!@& talk about revenue making schemes.....

    • I've watched some vids and the technique seems to be to butt the sheets up to one another and use MIG to spot weld and slowly fill in the spots until its eventually all sealed. No runs as you would normally do, as there's too much heat generated that way. Yeah my stick welds are terrible these days because its been so long since i've done any of it. I expect to be spending many hours practicing
    • I have personally seen a Tomei USA RB26 cam that didn't even fit the head. Kind of nuts to me that it was even possible for that to happen but such is life.  There's two UP Garages in the US. One is a US branch of the Japanese company which sells things they brought over at tremendous markup. The other is University Place Garage/Fairlady Motors which is a shop best known for putting VCAM in RBs and trying to convince people to stop putting in 800hp of turbo on a 2.5L motor.
    • Gasless MIG is not exactly suited to what I would call "delicate" or "attractive" welding. So I would rule it out for sheet metal rust repair type stuff, unless you're only doing it in hidden places. I'm thinking about getting myself a gasless MIG for "hack together" type work. Noting that my welding experience is very very low, and quite a long time ago. So I'm also looking for "simple", but I'm not expecting "excellent". I'm not even sure that proper MIG is the best for sheet metal work. I get the feeling that the degree of control and the minimisation of heat input that you get from TIG is probably what you really want. And then you have to get good at doing it before the welds won't look like a monkey flinging a handful of shit anyway. You're probably SOL for an easy and cheap way to get from where you are to where you want to be. Much like myself.
    • Any recommendations for what would be the easiest welding type to start on, for sheet metal rust repairs and maybe some exhaust piping too? Seems like MIG is the most common. Would gasless MIG be ok to learn on and do some simple jobs? I have a stick welder which has a Lift TIG setting, but i'm more interested in getting whatever's easiest to do, and most suitable, rather than using what i have.
    • Is the UP Garage in the US of Ayyeee even the real UP Garage?
