But wouldn't the alarm go off anyway if it is activated and the door is open??

I still don't know how this 'supposed way' is but I'm assuming that somehow he can get the door open without smashing the window?!

Only if my dog don't chew on stuff, I would have her in there guarding my car hehe

Guys,

I'll pull my door apart on the weekend and figure out how its done and also see if I can find out a way to fix it, once I've done that I'll PM people.

Stay tuned.

PS I don't think an alarm will stop them breaking in as it didn't in my case.

Cheers

It sounds like there is a method of getting into your car but if you have an alarm / immobiliser then you shouldnt worry about the actual car being stolen.

Only reason to worry would be if you have stuff to steal inside the car - i try to not have valuables in the car when i leave it parked (i.e take the stereo face off) etc. They can steal cd's as i only have burnt cd copies in the car anyways.

Why dont you people just wire up another siren?

Get a piezo siren from dick smith or something; they're only about 10 bucks, but they're 100+DB.. Mount this somewhere hidden IN THE CABIN.. I can guarantee you that no1 can stand even a few seconds.

These sirens are meant for house alarms - the sales person even tried to talk me out of buying it as he recons you'd get deaf... but if a thief wanted to break into the car and steal shit, then I don't care if they get deaf.

If your alarm is triggered, you'll find that your normal siren (under the bonnet) will be louder outside the car, but stick your head inside the car and then you'll see what its like

My car got broken into about a month ago. They tried to get the door open as scars suggest, but in the end they just smashed the window.

PM me coz I'd like to know, but I doubt its gonna help. If they want in, they'll get in. Just make sure you get a good immobilizer so they cant get the car without a tow truck.
