Hi there guys, maybe i'm a bit green at you guy's terminolagie but what does rwkw stand for i've never been to a dyno before is this where this term originates. If the spec's fof a 250GT state 215ps@6400rpm and 27.5KGM@4400 what figures should i expect on the dyno if my ride is bog std.As for my 1/4 mile time i don't know it but in auto ,normal, i only get to around 120km/h and in manual, triptronic, with the power light on i only get to around 130km/h and in both cases absolutely no wheel spin. Maybe i don't know the technique of getting off the line, cheers

RWKW = Rear Wheel Kilowatts

The figure of 215ps is "at the motor". When reading power figures on a dyno, the output is substantially lower, due to drivetrain loss (google it).

215ps = approx 160kw. You would expect this to be something like 120 RWKW, but its impossible to say without putting the car on a dyno.

Ach! 200 from a 350, not easy at all... NA's arent cheap to mod for power, the 190 achieved above is pretty good and unless you've got cash to burn i'd settle for that.

After what you've got its going to mean a bit of head work and cams to up air flow and also some ecu work to try and tweak the tune and up the rev limit.

After that its a case of hoping the internals will cope with the load, and if you need to sort out internals, then you may aswell up the displacement.

After all the above.. you may aswell have just thrown a turbo at it and run low boost and gained better results.

The comment made about nos is actually not a bad one. A small shot delivered not too close to the plenum wont stress the engine too much, is cheap and effective.

tbh tho, if you want high performance out of an NA on a budget, you bought the wrong car.

Not necessarily modding on a budget or anything im satisfied with the car as it is was just itnerested in what it would take and what could be gained its good to know that i can get to 190ish with some bolt ons...does seem that turbo is the way to go if i want more power in the future though =P

Just got home from the Dyno and i got 191rwkw. Mods Popcharger with Z Tube, Plenum Spacer, light wieght Pulleys, Extractors and a Grounding kit.

I Dyno the car stock when i got it and had 163rwkw. So about 28kw of mods. 9 more to go

Do you mean light weight fly wheel or did u actually replace the Water Pump,Alternator Pulleys???? Do u have a link of what u did?

Cheers

Watch this space Iv got a workshop who deals in those quafie LSDs I posted about earlier getting back to me on a price next week hopefully. I will be hooking up a 50/70 shot of NOS once I have a diff that will actually get the power to the ground

Found some webpage on google late one night with some guys auto 4 door G35 pulling a 12.9 with nothing more than a catback + a 75 shot. He was using stock spark plugs as well

I remember a Guy NSW SAU got a quote from reputable Sydney workshop for HKS Super charger KIT, Drive in Drive Out job for something like 7K [i think was the figure]

apparently the 350Z twin turbo kit can overheat the 350GT for some reason and needs extensive modification to fit was the reason he went super charge

Last time I was @ QR there was a guy with a supercharged 350z with a 5 speed auto

I know his car had a supercharger/intercooler, the exhaust looked stock. He said it made 215 @ the wheels.... and it made around 140 stock.... Dosent sound right to me when my V35 with a catback makes 170 with the 5 speed auto.. oh im talking about rwkw

I just got my 6MT dyno'd at chip torque.

Only has grounding kit and fujitsubo exhaust (upto the y pipe, not cats).

Made 158 rwkw, the guy said that the air fuel mixture was good, torque was good and showed no reason for a low rwkw as i said 165-170 was the norm...

What is? Surely the manual has more than 5 speed right?

Well im going to get it dyno'd again after i put on:

Stainless Y-pipe

Stainless reinforced Headers with heat wrap

HFC with resonators

Motordyne Basic Plenum spacer

Z-tube

Pop charger

How much will i get with all that?

How hard is it to put on lightweight flywheel?

Dyno numbers depend on the dyno. Different machines with different operators will give different readings. For example my car used to pull 180rwkW on CRD and Unigroup's dynos here in Sydney, but only 170rwkW on APS' in Melbourne with the same mods/tune. They all used Dyno Dynamics in Shootout Mode.

All that should matter to you is the difference pre and post-mods, as a percentage, and what it will do in the real world. You should only be concerned that your car is making less power than everyone else's if you run back to back rolling acceleration tests and you're significantly slower.

You should be able to hit 200rwkW on "happy" dynos with all the bolt-ons, and a set of cams. I've got everything bolted on to my Z33 and, on CRD's dyno, I got around 195rwkW I think.

If I had a set of Step 1 cams in my engine so it would rev all the way to 7200RPM (it chokes out at 7000RPM right now, and levels out from around 6800RPM) 200rwkW on their dyno shouldn't be impossible with otherwise standard internals. Bear in mind that's on a 280ps engine - on a 300ps engine I would probably be hitting 200rwkW on their dyno by now.

    • Duncan:- it affect both sides.  Driver side is worse.
    • That seems like a very special issue!  Does it affect both sides? Either way, I would disconnect the driver's side switch and see if it still happens, noting that might require removal of the whole door card which is a bit of a pain (it does on V37 and HY51)

    • I currently have a 2008 370GT Coupe, with the big brakes (Akebeno if I'm correct), and Its coming time to get new pads. Previously, I had a 2003 350GT Coupe with the stock sized brakes, not Brembos. I had custom wheels on it that were pretty open to the brakes, and when I first put the wheels on it, the rims where completely coated with brake dust. A few years after adding the new rims, I needed to change to pads on that car. I didn't do any research, but I told the mechanic of the problem with the brake dust. I also told him I didn't track the car or even drive around the streets harshley. But the dust was an issue. The mechanics changed the pads to a different compound, and the dust was GONE! The other change I noted was that when coming to a complete stop, instead of having to press harder on the pedal as I approached 0kph, I had to actually lift off a little to not come to a hard jerky stop.( My unfounded explanation is they became stickier as they heated by stopping ) Since I got my 370gt with big brakes, I noticed that that as I came closer to stopping, I had to press harder and harder to reach a full stop. I am not talking about hard, just harder. I brought the car in from another state, so when I had a blue slip done, I asked the mechanic what he thought of the brakes, and he thought they were brilliant. The only negative of these pads on the 350GT, was that they squealed when cold. So driving out of a shopping center carpark, it was a little embarrassing, as the brakes squealed, and I am sure people thought that I needed new brakes, when they were actually fresh. I have no idea of what type of compound they were on the 350gt, but whatever it was, I want to get the exact same on my 370GT. They weren't ridiculously expensive, and were replaced at the local JAX (which is no longer open), so I am certain they would be a pretty common big brand, off the shelf type/brand. My current mechanic suggested I need top get the rear pads changed soonish, but he suggested standard Brembo pads. Which I expect to behave the same as the current ones and not like the ones on the 350GT.  I don't think dust will be an issue on the 370GT. With the behaviour I describe above on the 360GT, does anyone have a suggestion of pad material that will act like the change I had done on the 350GT?
