Well black betty went into the mechs to get a compression test today and found out my engine is on its last legs, as im not sure what compression a normal 20 is ment to be i believe these results dont sound good at all

1 - 90

2 - 85

3 - 60 (90 wet)

4 - 85

5 - 90

6 - 100

I think I will stick with the 20 as its easier and a cheaper swap

as i live on the northern rivers in nsw does anyone know where is a good place where I can pick up a long motor? drivin to the gc or bris would be ok to pick one up.

or should i rebuild my 20?

im lookin to spend at least 1500 what should i do?

Cheers Rohin

go for a bits n pieces rb30 :)

isnt the RB25 from the r32 gts4 compatible with rb20 manifolds? even if not a rb25 manifold is easy to get with injectors, u hav the rest of the stuff.

you could piece something together fairly cheap mate, but only if ur up for it.

easiest way is definitely another 20, GL :P

Do you mean intake plenum? Cos RB20's and 25's have the same exhaust manifold...

I would personally be looking to convert it to a 25. I never like spending money on my car unless it is improving it or keeping it healthy (service), so when something breaks or gets worn, i find something to upgrade it with and make the car that little bit better :)

Well i've thought of putting a 25 in it but i've already got pretty good mods for the 20 i have like HKS2530 turbo, gtr injectors, z32 afm, front mount big fuel pump n a nistuned ecu....

I guess i could sell all that stuff to help finance a 25 conversion :P

The conversion dosn't sound very hard with what i've read up on it although id be wanting a 25 box otherwise i think id snap my 20 one if i put it up to the 25 haha

all info appreciated!

based on that, I personally think you should stick to the 20.

for the cost of parting out you will probably break even on a 25 conversion. without mods its a dud of a motor, especially compared to what youve got already.

if you want to start over and spend all that money all over again on another stock motor, sure enough it will end up somewhat better on the 25. really ur only losing the tune and injectors, you can reuse ur turbo and ur z32 for good results on the 25, but ull need a pfc and injectors again.. fail.

stay 20 :P

takes a day to pull the old motor and throw in the 'new' one.

its a big stretch to sell a 32 with a dead motor and somehow be able to buy a 33/34..

just because every man and his dog has put in a 25 doesnt mean you need to, stick with the 20.

Well I've decided to stick with the 20 :D Gonna use the money i saved to guy some cams to put in the new engine and get a catch can n get it tuned better :)

I will be needing 1 x RB20DET long motor lol

would a motor with 100,000 kms or so be alright? n if its been compression tested is around 130psi alright? (just from doing a quick search)

Cheers for all the input people

ps. seen my first R35 GTR up the gold coast yesterday n they look sick az in the flesh it was black n the numberplates were IIIV i think...... :P
