I was at court today for full contest and had to give evidence. The person wanted to challenge a speeding fine from us following him at 97 in 80 Zone.

My advice is to get legal representation as this person represented himself and was a debacle. Also not a good defense simply to say I wasn't speeding and didn't do it and that's it. He was then in shock when he lost case and verbalized his disgust to magistrate.

Mind you this has dragged out for almost 3 years and been to court on 7 occasions already and he just got the initial fine reinstated.

There can always be mitigating circumstances.....

However, when it comes to speeding fines etc, it is generally a lost cause.

Once we get our crummy legal experience out of the way, a friend of mine and I are considering starting up a Law firm with a focus on traffic infringements, defect/EPA notices etc. Should be fun!

DOOOOOOO IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!

First customer here, although I don't think I can delay my EPA notice that long lol.

I did see a firm the other day that specialised in speeding fines and getting drunk drivers off fines / reduced penalties. They sounded pretty optimistic about it! But atleast you'd have no shortage of clients...let's say...90% of Victorian drivers...

We are seriously considering it. At this stage, the earliest it would be up and running is during the first few months of 2011, after we have completed our mandatory legal experience.

We are going to start to study the relevant legislation and hopefully we can get something going with SAU backing (and maybe other car clubs will jump onboard too).

Watch this space.

That firm would work well in conjunction with my dream of an independant body to represent the rights of car enthusiasts :ninja:

Collaboration? Watch this space lol.

thats better.

Well I was referring to speeding fines as everyone speeds, but yes imports are a target

Are you a legal firm?

Not at the moment, we just work like peasants for firms haha, being Lawyer n00bs and all.

But once we are able to start our own firm, hopefully it will be geared towards helping out the

car enthusiast community (and motorists in general).

haha sounds good!

Hopefully we can get the ball rolling soon enough....

gdogzgtr- just wanted to ask a question (not trying to be smart ass)

Mate of mine was driving and floored it out 60km, with no wheel spin or anything and an unmarked officer pulled him over and said i estimate that you were speeding at 71.35km in 60 zone and issued a fine (based on his knowledge). My firend told me that i was not speeding and the officer did not have him on the radar or any evidence. How can you prove your case in a situation like this, like just the fact that he went into decimals on the speed seems like a complete joke!

Anyways he also didn't have his rear P-plate up so he lost 6 point meaning that he looses his liscence, pretty tough i think for someone that didn't loose any point prior to this inscident.

I've heard that we can issue fine for speed for estimation but I would NEVER do it. Without Laser/radar or TUPMED (follow) speed I think that magistrate would throw it out. I would definitely contest it and obviously get solicitor. I bet it wouldn't get past contest mention where prosecutor would advise to drop matter.

I think I should study law and become a specialised traffic solicitor. With my knowledge of how we work and learning more laws and precidents I could get awesome results for my clients.

I once got speed estimated at 101km/h in an 80 zone, from a car hundreds of metres behind me. I know this because I could see there was noone behind me and once they turned their lights on I could see far back they were. Plus I had just gone through a roundabout so they couldnt even see me line of sight. I couldnt be bothered taking it to court and paying for a solicitor as I wasnt losing my license.

I thought 101km/h was a joke, 71.35 is just ridiculous!

That happened to me earlier this week. I got done for doing 70 in a 50 zone but the way they guessed that is because I turned down a side street and by the time they decided to follow I was further down the road than I could have possibly been doing if I was going the speed limit.

But yeah.. I'm just paying it. Unless you can get me out of it Graeme? :ninja:

    • I’ve got one on mine and it’s fine,
    • No, you don't want to plug the vacuum line, as that will turn that side of the booster into an air spring and probably make it feel worse. I'm not saying that the GTR master itself doesn't need a booster. I haven't paid attention to the GTR one to know what size it is cf the non-GTR ones. But when you think about it - they have to do the same job, which is to move a little slave piston a few mm to do what it is supposed to do, and that final action is the same on all the cars. So, it is very unlikely that the GTR MC is any different than the others, because it has the same pedal stroke and the same output requirement. The booster just makes it feel easier. I'd suggest you probably have an actual hydraulic problem. It's totally common on these old shitboxes.
    • Ye, in terms of bolting up the "Conversion" from a GT to a GTT is effectively "Use GTT parts for everything" Except the subframe itself, because you won't want a HICAS/4WS subframe. Remember your ABS system will be different too, thanks to GT being the S15 3 sensor system, instead of the R34 4 sensor system for wheel speed. I do not know how people get this to work given R34 diffs do not have a provision for an ABS sensor (they are on the tone wheels of the axles). I assume***** people use S15 gear/R34NA forever when they realize this - Or they convert it to a rear diff/axles that are R33 style which I presume has the singular speed sensor on the diff itself, but then you have to wire it all in and...and... and...
    • Foreshadowing was never so easy.
    • The ones in brackets are the first stages of tightening. I usually aim for the middle of the range. They give a range because it's actually not that critical to hit exactly the right bolt tension. Enough is enough, and too much is too much, and the range given is inside that range. Half of the bolts in the suspension are problematic for putting a torque wrench on anyway, so just get done up to mechanic tight  and spanner checked a week later.
