Call me crazy but I think maybe they should try and detect gunpowder, it can give off a hell of a bang. Not that testing for explosives is necessary on a domestic flight, theres more people on the rush hour train to the city for god sake.

Yes i agree with this... surely gun fire residue would be detected by their scans, CSI team is looking for it all the time! ;)

I was talking about an amount of black powder in say a 5 or 6kg sack, i've watched enough Mythbusters to know that can make a fair bit of mess especially in a confined space. Sorry about the confusion :(

But it's not illegal to fire a gun. However if you've been playing with C4, you're either a bomb expert, which can quickly be rectified, or you need to be spoken to a little more.

... interersting !! ... i recently got pulled over in Manly on the beach front & got breath tested & drug tested ... had to blow into the machine for alcohol & got my mouth swabbed for drugs ... the swab can detect pot, cocaine & speed ... quite an un nerving experience all round ... ...

are you sure? I was told it was only Marajuana, speed and exctasy that was tested for?

ironically as i found out in my time doing biochem at uni, if they tested for procaine and one other compound which is common in house hold cleaners, they'd pick up a lot more people.
