Hey

Looking at buying some new wheels for my GTR after some recent upgrades. I currently have BBS 18X9.5 +20 but after changing to nismo Z-tune guards find they they are just too small and sit too far in.(been caught out by the ripple effect) I will probable keep these as a spare set incase i get the urge to go to track days lol.

So the logical upgrade to me would have to be a set of TE37's 19X10.5 +12 although iam getting some mixed opinions about fitment! Just curious about haw many people are running them and do they scrub at all? I have spoke to some people that have them and they only rub the inner guard on full lock slightly. Rays engineering in japan tell me they wont fit :) .

Please post up pics and any additional changes that had to be made to make them fit ie camber etc.

Also ride Hight as my car is currently super low :) haha

I realise that this may have been covered before but just would like to know what everyone thinks.

Cheers Kingy

Hey,

Thanks for the replies

Owgasm - 18's should be fine as that is the same spec as the Z-Tune.

Yeah they do come at a premium but honestly we don't buy these type of cars to same money :(

They only come in +12 or +22 and im really not to up to speed with the difference that this will make? Does the offset affect how much 'lip' there will be on the wheel?

Yeah think they will look sexy as if i can get the right size, offset, ect. Iam tryin to get my hands on set of black time attact ones but this is proving difficult so far lol..

Uwiish.

If you don't mind, post some pictures of how the wheels fit on/within/at the guards (both front and rear).

I'd like to help on the offset, I understand it enough for myself, but explaining it is another challenge.

But if uwiish is running +17, +12 will stick out 5mm more, so however it sits on his car, add about 5mm to it.

33/34 though, not sure how different the offsets are, if any.

In my opinion though, i'd go with +12.

Hey everyone,

Yeah i have checked out tangomatt's thread and it is an exceptional build.. want the same wheels as that just chasing a few more opinions before i fork out for a set lol..

I believe they will hit the inner guard on full lock with 275/30 tyre but i will live with that haha..

Just hope they do not interfer with the coilovers or ride hight as it only sits about 95mm off the deck

I have 19x10.5 volks on a 33gtr and they sit the same as the TE37's on the 34 from the attached thread. Mine had streched 275/30's on it when I brought it but found the streched tyres didnt stand up to hard driving very well, ended up with vibrations from bulged/moved beads. (yes I check my tyre pressures) Probably not the best option if you love a spirited drive from time to time. I have just changed to a full set of 305/25's and find that even though they are allot wider (and awsum looking :-) ) they actually rub the inner guards less than the 275's as they work out to be a lower sidewall height. They also have the added bonus of actually fitting the rim width correctly so should be safer in theory. I havent rolled the gaurds yet and do get an accasional rub with the suspension set soft but this goes away on hard settings. A set of 295's would probably fix the rubbing but would still need to be a 25 profile to stop them having a taller sidewall than the 275s, I havnt looked for any tyres that size yet though. Not sure on the exact width of the R34 but it is wider than the 33?? would be surprised if you had trouble fitting them.

Hope it looks awsum.

Cheers

I just fitted some 19 x 10.5 +11 gtcs to my 34gtr with 275 30 19 tyres and I'm having a few issues. Need to have the rear lips rolled sp they don't scrub the tyre and I needed to massage the guard liner in thefrotht wheel arches. It's the rear of the front tyre that was rubbing. It clears when stationary now but still might rub going up a driveway.

I still get some decent rubbing, the front right wheel rubs the front of the arch on full lock, reason is the right wheel arch has reduced clearance I think due to the fact that the blow off valves sit back a bit behind the bumper. It's annoying me so I will see if I can move them to massage the guard further. It only rubs on full lock but it's getting Fu****g annoying.

I've read they fit no problem with the tyres I have but my experience states otherwise. A 25ml sidewalk would help but it's already rough with a 30ml and 19s so I don't recommend going to licorice straps for tyres. I think a 10 inch rim with a 15 offset would clear no prob but yes that's my experience.

Pm me in a week or so and I'll let unknown how everything went and if it works.

I fitted my 18x9.5 +12 TE37's with 275/30 falkens last week to my R34 gtr. They do scrub, but only when there is extreme suspension travel with a little turning. For example when driving at a sharp angle out of a driveway to avoid scraping the front lip. In these situations the car is hung up on opposite wheels (left front and right rear, etc), and the tyre rubs the inner guard if you dont keep the wheels straight. (My car is lowered to 100mm and has 8+6Kg springs).

With 19's you'd have more problems becuase the car will be lowered more to make it look right, unless you want it riding at 120mm off the ground. The scrubbing will also get worse too, especially if lowered.

I was after 19's originally too until the 18's came along at the right price. Ive since learned that the 18's are the better option for handling anyway.

Thanks everyone,

So it's not just bolt on and drive away as some would have you believe. The more i read and stories i hear going to this size will look shit hot, but the associated drama that comes with it may not be worth the issues.

Dabro - i believe that the R33 GTR is wider in the rear than the 34. Not sure about the front think mine may be a little wider as i have Z-Tune guards which are an additional 15mm wider than standard. Very interesting than 305x25 rub less than the 275x30. I really do not want to go to a much lower profile than 30 as there are a few bumpy roads up here and performance etc.

depalma-bcnr33 - You need to have the rear guards rolled? I didn't think there were any dramas with the rear did you just try add some camber? By massage the inner guard you mean use a heat gun or somethin similar and reshape the plastic?

GTRNUR - It must be the 275 tyre that causes the issues beacuse my 18x9.5 originally had 275x35 michellin pilots and these did rub on full lock occasionally (driveways full lock etc), then i changed to Potenza RE01-r 265x35 and the issue went away. Going to a 19" with a 275x30 tyre would raise the car 10mm.

Decisions Decisions!!! I love the wheels i got but want bigger lol.. Here are a few pics of my current set up.

Thanks

Cheers Kingy
