Hey guys.

I have couple of things I need to sort out with my GTR, and don't want to do them in rush, so I'm looking for a cheap daily runabout car. Can you guys recommend something that is cheap and fairly reliable to run? I have no idea when it comes to buying something like this, so your suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks :(

i have a suzuki ignis thati use whenever i need to, sits there for ages, maybe a month and it cranked over straight away and drives fine. and only about 35bucks to fill it up = 420km

so maybe suzuki of some sort.

Toyota Corolla,

A dude I know, he has gone through 9 of them and all are written off but mechinicals are fine though.

Tough little bugger and plentiful out there also.

xf falcon. I've had 4 over the years on gas and $35 will get 450km's. They have never broken down and can tow the gtr easy. Should get one with 12 months reg for $1000. I use them to tow the boat.

Corolla's are awesome cars aswell. Any year from early 80's to now. I've seen the abuse they can take!

Haven't paid over $1000 for my last 4 daily's and they all came with 12 months reg. 2 xf's, 2001 xsara and a 1990 Triton.

+1

'94 vintage corolla would be that sort of budget. Quite a few are owned by elderly people who have to give up their licences.

Just check A/C & service history as well as the usual.

Suzuki Swift or Baleno or Toyota Corolla would be my 2 picks. Ask any mechanic in the trade what the most reliable cars are and 9 out of 10 will say Toyota. Get a corolla, camry are a little bit more to keep running.

I do have to disagree with Rowdy though, XF falcons are not reliable and they are that long in the tooth now that finding a somewhat decent example that won't need any work is going to be bloody tough. For under 2K you could get an ex taxi EF-EL falcon or maybe even an AU but I'd still go the Corolla over any of the fords if you only need it as a runabout. Parking something so small is a breeze.

Honda civic!!! I did 500+ k's a week and usually spent about $40 on Petrol for that... can definitely get one for the price you're looking for and they are crazy reliable. Mine was a '93 model.
