i see you have time to post comments, but i dont see a pic of your mates cup holder!!!!!!!!!!

;)

Sorry man some one already beat me to post the pic ;)

Hey guys theres this new site with images and everything!! www.google.com.au :)

There are subtle differences though between series 1 and 2

Series 1 has a plastic piece of crap which you take out and flip to hold up smaller diameter drinks eg red bull

Series 2 has a metal clip which folds down and locks into place for smaller diameter drinks

I actually reckon its the best cup holder I've seen in a car, holds normal cans, small cans and also choc milk hehe

I've never seen a 33 without one though, weird that some of you dont have it!!

But back to the original topic, 33 is the best all rounder in terms of price, performance and age/kms :)

Thx for the pic mate, my mate "factory" cup holder look just like that.

I like this one! And it's for sale!

See a center consul for a r33 with the stupidly shallow cup holder. It also have a little metal bracket the fips up to hug the upper part of the cup

I got one of this and keeps the drink cold too!

It must perform well it's a "type s" ;)

I wonder if it were a "type r".... ;)

But seriously - are cup holders really that important???

I can only speak from the R34 point of view - but the cup holders in the R34 fail quite badly for two large drinks from maccas. I heard somewhere the guys with manual trans have issues of hitting thier drinks when shifting into 2,4 and 6 (if you have a GTR). I drive an auto and I too find myself nudging the drinks with my wrist when going into drive or decided to use the tiptroninc.

To the OP, there is nothing wrong with the 33GTR per se, but it will always be the 'middle child'. as far as personal preferences go, thats all they are - personal preferences. 32's are starting to show their age, but hold a cult status, 33's aren't as old, but still quite affordable, 34's are amazing, but still quite expensive for your average joe. i guess it all comes down to 'personal preference' and budget.

FFS if anyone thinks the standard SQUARE recess in a R33 can hold a large maccas cup then be my guest to show us.

Record it and youtube it. Place it in the SQUARE, and drive around corners. Then brake lol. It doesnt hold shit... unless its square

Without reading the whole thread.... Imo the only thing wrong with a R33 (other than the power windows) is they're too common and hence all the little snobs think that makes them uncool. I know of guys that used to preach the whole skyline religion years before I owned one and these guys creamed when talking about 33's. Ask them now about 33's and all of a sudden their not so cool as there's so fkn many of them here in Aus.

Just my -0.2c

What i have always wondered is are/were r33's more common than r34's in japan? Now days seems like just about every 33 ever made has come to Aus lol but just wondering if the r33 sold the best i guess it did have along production life 93- early 98 althouhg the r34 went from 98-2002? or only 2001?

Sweet, I always thought there was a lot of 33 GTR haters but turns out im very wrong. Good too see. So how bout we get some pics of a few members rides, With or without cup holders. lol

Ill start

Heres my N1.

Well, its not a MUST have but a good to have. For 12bucks I cant complain. Have a look at the picture and you'll find that the cup holder I posted actually can house a mobile phone in front too!

Customer walks into f*kuoka Motors and says, "I'm looking for a nice GT-R"

Salesman: "We have a really lovely looking R33 GT-R over here sir!"

Customer: "Does it have a cup holder?"

Salesman: "And this car has several mods that have brought up the power to 318kw @ the..."

Customer interjecting: "Yes, but does it have a cup holder?"

Salesman: "Well it's right there in the middle sir."

Customer: "Where?"

Salesman: "There in the middle sir, in front of the lidded compartment."

Customer: "You mean that's a cup holder?"

Salesman: "Yes it really is sir."

Customer: "Looks like something my G/F would use for a cosmetic..."

Salesman getting annoyed: "Look sir, that cup holder will keep any cup steady no matter what the acceleration!"

Customer: "And what about deceleration?"

Salesman still annoyed: "Really sir, if you drink most of your drink first before taking off, I'm sure..."

Customer: "Hahaaaa, caught you out didn't I? Now what if I want to upsize?"

Salesman: "Sir - Well I'm sure you can fit the drink inside the lidded compartment - SIR!"

Customer: "I'm not talking about upsizing my drink - we're onto popcorn now - SIR!"

Salesman: "What the f*kuoka - GET OUTTA HERE!!!!"

    • Welcome Alice......hope you have a bit more luck from here on! What was done in the build?
    • Hello! I'm new here, I have an R33 GTST that is currently being finished up! Last year was pretty rough, blew two stock turbos so I decided to build the car. Has been down since November, but I get it back next weekend!
    • Hello, I believe my car was imported to America in the 2000s by Kaizo Industries. Would anyone be able to help me find more info on them? I've only found all the basic stuff like that paul walker bnr34, them being shutdown by feds, just stuff like that. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
    • I am using Motec M150.  I am not working on the car myself actually.  My workshop is giving all these info, they are quite reputable in the industry and are very familiar with Motec and RBs and have done a few big setups with VCam and single turbo on RBs.  In fact, they built and tuned my engine from day one.  But they are stumped with my engine at the moment and cannot work out how come the compression is so low with the VCam. They told me that they have now swapped in some Kelford cams (without the VCam) and can achieve around 130psi compression and the low end torque is better, but now the engine is doughy as.  It boosts and peaks at more than 1000rpm slower, with twin HKS GTIII RS, it doesn't get full boost until over 5000rpm. I have always thought the VCam was a bit disappointing at the low rpm. To a point I had to ride the clutch a fair bit to get up a small hill from stand still.  That was when I had a clutch.  Now changing to a 8HP, I don't have that luxury and this problem has become a major issue. I am beginning to think the VCam never work since the day it was installed.  Maybe it was just sitting at the most advanced point, that is why it went good at top end but very ordinary at the bottom.  Therefore, with the help of the Holinger 6 speed and paddle shift, as long as it was moving, it drove pretty good.
    • yeah, there's a country that recently started importing Skylines, I blame them.
