hey guys.. im on the search for a neat looking surge tank...

now... i dont like the round ones and i dont like the upright ones...

Z229.jpg

but i do like these ones... because they are square... they come in 2L and 4L.. and are wide enough that two bosch pumps can fit side by side and have neat, parallel hoses to them..

but ive heard not so good things about this stuff. mainly intercooler pipes... and bad quality welds etc... which isnt something you want with a slightly pressurized surge tank..

is anyone using these or has anyone heard anything about them...

or can anyone point me in the direction of one that is similar... i may go with the advan surge tank which mounts under the car but im undecided.

cheers

Linton

I have no experience with these....but just wanted to note that square might be easy to fit but is a horrible shape to stop fluid splashing around. I guess a surge tank spends most of it's life full, but if not it would aerate the fuel like crazy in a square shape.

Cancel all that if it is actually round or baffled in the middle.

yeh im not sure on that duncan... they call them a swirl pot... but that doesnt mean that they actually "swirl" the fuel being that shape...

i guess i will just go with a round one... its more for asthetics that i wanted square.. but i wont sacrifice fuel system performance over asthetics for something that is in the boot.

cheers.

How much are they?

When I was looking for one I couldn't find anything I liked (same as you, don't like those round ones), so had one custom made for around the same money. They aren't that intricate, mine has internal baffles etc and is a really neat fit which is something that the off the shelf ones didn't seem to be

Sounds nice and affordable. 2L unit will work fine. They dont need to be round. Plenty of surge tanks are made in funky designs. Everything working as it should, they are pretty much constantly full. We have a rectangular shaped one in the race car and it works great! Lol before we put it in we had plenty of fuel surging problems though, that was with a heavily baffled 60L fuel cell. Its suprising just how much fuel sloshes around in a big container when going fast.
