Oil Pressure Guage

Just looking at buying a aftermarket oil pressure guage to put on my rb25. I can see its got a sender unit which looks very similar to the standard oil pressure sender on the motor. Options: screw fittings including tee piece so i can run both senders and still have the standard guage workn but alot of stuff hanging around the oil filter or remove standard sender and screw in new one, neater but standard guage in dash wont work (i imagine red warning light for low oil pressure wounld stay on to).

Anyone got any suggestions. How have other people installed oil pressure guage senders?

run a sandwich plate or remote oil filter and then you can have oil pressure and oil temp. Leave the standard one in the block.

Replaced my standard sender with the aftermarket one for the gauge.

Standard one didn't read at all right anyway so no use in having it...

& warning light wont be on.

no it gets its signal from oil press sender.. two wires on the sender one for oil light other for pressure gauge.

I used a T piece and retained the stock sender.

Ok, so why no warning light? I have no stock sender so shouldn't it think I have no oil pressure & warn me?

When my gauge was playing up, saying I had almost no oil pressure, I read a few threads which said all is ok if warning light isn't on as it gets its reading from elsewhere, which is what led me to believe that... However you have to be correct as there is nowhere else it could get signal from...

what did you do with the wiring to the stock sender? if its earthed out then the light will go out IIRC.

either that or you got a minor wiring fault going to the stock gauge

Wiring for original sender is just tied away in engine bay, not earthed out.

So normally fitting an aftermarket gauge & removing stock sender would keep warn light on constantly?

pretty sure mate. been a while since ive played with the wiring in that area so mem is a little hazy.

can go pull the plug on my 32 if u want to check lol
