legal way: drive to local aircon place. ask them to degas aircon. hand over keys. come back after however long they tell you.

the job itself should only take about 5 mins, but depends on how busy you are. as to how much they charge i wouldn't know, but it shouldn't be too much.

shouldnt cost much, they will suck it out with a recovery pump into a bottle of waste R134a Refrigerant.... if your planning on removing air con lines and such you will need a new reciever drier when you put it all back together

ahhh shit lol.... it been to long since ive been taught air con systems

I googled it for you cause I wanted to remember what it does as well...

RECEIVER-DRIER

The receiver-drier is used on the high side of systems that use a thermal expansion valve. This type of metering valve requires liquid refrigerant. To ensure that the valve gets liquid refrigerant, a receiver is used. The primary function of the receiver-drier is to separate gas and liquid. The secondary purpose is to remove moisture and filter out dirt.

Air Con Information

So basically its for the secondary reason that you must replace it because it will absorb alot of moisture from atmosphere when it is disconnected from the system.
