Hi guys,

I've been putting up with the issue of water running into my headlights (Indicator part) and staying there untill evaporated.

Im getting sick of it i have tried taking it off and buying proper headlight sealent but it hasnt helped. Its doing it again.

I've noticed my mates skyline (R33) has the same problem and a few ive checked out after being washed have the same problem.

After last nights non-stop raining ive walked out to see my whole indicator filled with water.

Has anyone had past experience with this? Any suggestions?

Cheers

sorry guys i mean my taillights..

I remember reading somewhere on the forum that a dodgy boot seal can cause water to leak around your tail lights. Is your boot seal in decent condition?

yeehh that was a possibility in my mind.. but i went out to confirm it and my boot seals in perfect condition!! no cracks or wear and tear..

Generally a lot of the factory seals perish over time, and quite badly when your car lands in a country with a complete different climate. I had this problem with my old s1 33 (never got around to fixing it though), and you do see this on a lot of other 33s.

Solution i'm leaning towards; pull apart tail light completely, remove all old junk sealant, give all bits a very good clean, and then re-seal everything with reccommended headlight adhesive.

cheers for the repliess

ive just decided to take both of your ideas.. Im going to drill a small hole in the lowest point of the indicator and then im going to clean it up and buy more of the taillight sealent and try to do it again :(

cheers guys i will let you know how it comes out

test the seal before you drill, if you leave a hole im pretty sure it can build up condensation inside, and you still get that stupid beady-water look in the morning.

when your talking about the seal do you mean the seal around the taillight? if so its only got the adhesive no seals? ive also noticed my taillights somehow cracked on the bottom indicator part..

I might seal that part up as well

I will let you know how it comes along

cheers

i had this problem too. resealed the taillights onto the body. made no difference.

so i removed my bumper, and drilled a small hole under each blinker so water will run straight through. havent had a problem since.

i think the real problem is the glue on the tail light lenses inside the tail light assembly has failed and the water runs in through the lenses, instead of running around them and draining as it should.

so i imagine you would have to pull each light apart and reseal it internally.
