Hi all,

Having issues with my R33. As the title states I have rough idle (between 500rpm and 1000rpm when fully stationary) and the rpm seems to drop by 500rpm during normal driving (50km/h - 70km/h) as well.

Recently (4 Months) got her back on the road after 2 years in the garage. Took her to Marty at MW Performance on the Sunny Coast (Top bloke!). He fixed a stripped spark plug thread and replaced the water pump and did a general service. Was told the engine is is in good condition when he had the head off. Everything has been running smooth since then.

I then had an issue with my AFM which I fixed by resoldering the contacts inside the AFM.

I also cleaned the AAC valve.

Last weekend I was out and about when my car started "chugging" at random intervals, at the same time I smelt something burning - well at least I thought it was. So I pulled over and turned the engine off. Popped the hood up and had a look - no smoke/smell. Let her sit for 45mins and was able to drive her home. Did not drive it until this morning and the issues are happening again.

Before taking her out I checked oil and coolant level which seemed to be OK. I noticed the radiator had a bit of play (I could move it back and forth a small amount - not sure if this is normal?).

The car is completely stock apart from a pod filter. Sorry for the long post. Any ideas what could be the cause? Thanks in advance for any input. I will try to post video/audio of the issue if it helps.

mate the exact same thing happened to me after i cleaned my AAC valve.. the boost gauge vacuum line (which you have to remove to get the AAC valve off) was old and had gone hard.. and it split after i put it back on. check there for a loud hissing sound, if it's split and there's an air leak it can cause the symptoms you are describing

good luck, hope that solves the problem :)
