does anyone know that 30km/h over the speed limit is and instant 3 month suspension? i found out the hard way. happened in march, i paid the fine, i lost the points then 2 days ago i got a letter saying my licence would be suspended for 3 months. happens on the 29th of june. why is it only brought to my attention now? never said it on the fine, not on the reminder notice (yes even after the reminder notice you still have 1 month to pay before you get a late fee) or not even when i rang the SDRO. its been over 2 months since it happened. and why have i never heard of this before? 45km/h or over is 6 months. also if you loose 12-15 points over 3 years thats an instant 3 months suspension aswell. 16-19 is 6 months.

Yes, 30Km & Over is an automatic disqualification for quite some time now.

BTW, you didn't actually say just how many you WERE over... how many?

BTW, when you've served your time, how many points are you on then? 5? or is it zeroed?

This sort of thing can affect future insurance premiums too.

Smart dudes learn from their experiences eh?

great advice there waxracing :|

anyway....I copped 1 month for 15-30 about 10 years ago so this rule has been around for ages.

I'm sure one of our many recent premiers promised to stop average people losing their licenses for average driving, but maybe that was only for 0-15

i was sitting on 140 in 110. but radar said 151. i know my speedos not out and 140 is only 30 over not more so shouldnt loose it. but i didnt know this untill 3 days ago. i didnt fight it at the time as 140 and 151 or in the same bracket, same fine and same points. no i havnt lost them all or reached the maximum of 12 as it really is.

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/rulesregulations...ints/index.html

and i found this on another page.

"If you are issued a penalty notice for speeding in excess of 45 km/h over the limit, the suspension will apply for a period of six months.

If you are issued a penalty notice for speeding in excess of 30km/h but not more than 45km/h over the limit as the holder of a learner or provisional licence, or a learner driver driving unaccompanied by a supervising driver, the suspension will apply for a period of three months."

I copped it in 2007, 33 over, 3 month suspension, starts roughly a month or 2 after you pay the fine. I only knew about it after the cop pulled me over but by then it was too late, copped my time, the slowest 3 months in my life, 2 weeks after getting my licence back I went out and bought a gtst lol. Haven't had any problems since.

When that happened to me I found out that 45 and over was 6 month suspension, $1200 fine (think it's way more now), and the cop has the power to disqualify your lisense there on the spot.

When I was doing research into it a few years ago Duncan, I never came across the 15-30km over suspension rule so they must have gotten rid of it sometime before 2007.

I think 3 month and 6 month is abit tough as well as massive fines. It should be 1 month then 3 months instead, with maybe 6 month or more for repeat offenders I guess. And the fines should be lower, there is no reason for it especially when all your worry about is the loss of licence and how you are going to get to work.

Most people actually worry more about the $$$ then anything.

If you're 30KM/h over the limit, you deserve to walk for 3 months. 45KM/H over, you deserve to walk for 6 months. MINIMUM! People just don't understand, you might be on a freeway in a 110KM/H zone, sitting on 150KM/H thinking you're safe and dandy, but shit gets freaking scary at those speeds when it all goes wrong.

At to that if you're doing 90KM/h in a 50 Zone... That's a hell of a lot of damage! Considering pedestrians have an extremely low chance of surviving an impact when a car is over 60KM/H... Yet alone 90!

don't listen to what people say, cops are always updating their radar detector detectors just as fast as the new radar detectors come out, the radar detectors and the detector detectors are made by the same company and released at the same time, and the cops don't make public when they change their system so you ould be fine for 3 months, then bam they change their sytem and you get done for the detector that is worse than the fines.

nah $600 fine over 3 months is under $7 per day, that's cheaper than most people's bus ride to the city in sydney and back home. It's the 3 months of relying on others, paying for taxis, wasteing time that hurts the most. People usually pay more than $7/day for petrol anyway.

If you loose yours you will find that you won't mind doubling the fine just to get your licence back

Just dont stop then report the car stolen. Do a runner

OR

if its a camera make sure you have a mask on for when you speed

Or, once again, you could just follow the road rules in the first place, and drive sensibly!

    • I can't agree. If we hadn't all been brought up with the noise caused by the inefficiency of an ICE, no-one would actually ask for all that. An EV is like any other car, it just goes better.
    • 2 more things I have to work out Easy one first...can anyone describe how to pull the fuel pump and sender from a 33? I can feel there is some sort of mount and clips but don't have a manual and don't know the trick......if not I'll spend some quality time in the boot witha lighter tomorrow. Second question is harder.  He had changed the upper plenum to a plazmaman but clearly got to a point with the vacuum hoses where he said "f**k it, I'm going inside for a beer" and never came back to that job because it was a mess. Am I right to think that I need: 1. Pre throttle (16mm nipple on inlet) to AAC's main 20mm fitting as the main pre throttle feed 2. ACC has a second 13m outlet joined to that 20mm fitting which I think is the pre throttle air supply for the cold start valve? 3. Cold start valve's outlet fitting then goes to Plenum (to bypass throttle?) There is some adapter on the back of the ACC with 2 fittings (13mm and 10mm), do I run the 10mm through a 1 way valve to the Brake Booster (4) and the 13mm back to a 13mm nipple on the Plenum as the Idle control (5)? 6. Run a 6mm vacuum line from the Turbosmart BOV to the Plenum? 7. Run a 5mm vacuum line from the Fuel Pressure Reg to the Plenum? 8. Run a 5mm vacuum line from the Turbosmart Boost controller to the Plenum? (Wastegate already has a pre turbo pressure source running to the solenoid then the wastegate on the other side of the bay)  Any help appreciated, the GTR is quite different setup and while the Stagea also has FFP it is different again. (And no Dose, I'm not pissing it all off and putting a ethrottle on it....)
    • OK, onto some questions to try and speed up the process a little. Does anyone know what core this Garret is? I know it is a high flowed standard turbo but nothing else about it. Tag says OK 0169J - 446179-5032 Same question for the injectors, I don't know what they flow and ideally can work it out before it hits the dyno, they are a mustard yellow side feed
    • Quick side trip into the engine externals, alternator and PS were in place including tensioned belts, but the PS was dry (my guess is he had the steering rack reco-ed). Filled it up with Transmax Z but it will need more bleeding once the engine is running no doubt. BTW I've said before, I don't know what kind of soft animals you have in the city, but out here they breed the rats tough. I bet they were disappointed when they tasted synthetic ATF.... Coilpacks are Splitfires with a factory loom in reasonable condition. I didn't pull one put I bet the spark plugs are new as its a new engine
    • Onto intake pressure test. I have a Raceworks (damn brand thieves!) pressure test adapter that lets you apply pressure through a standard tyre valve and comes with a pressure gauge.....I just blocked off the other end immediately before the throttle body. Applied 30psi....and the turbo intake immediately popped off with a bang. Sorted that but it was still leaking, turns out there is a pinhole leak at the BOV adapter that I'll have to find a local place to TIG up. I'm sure it makes SFA difference with such a small leak but I want it to be right. Everything else up to the throttle body was good. Also cleaned and oiled the KNX cone filter, and this is the AFM if anyone can identify it (car runs a PowerFC)
