Argh that sucks

Did the car have a imobiliser & alarm? Without one will your insurance company pay up (lets hope you get your baby back in one piece but)?

i know justcar will not pay up without a imobiliser & alarm.

I saw a Silver r32 GTR on the central coast Friday at about 5:00pm at the bottom of kariong hill and i dont know any r32 silver GTR's on the central coast area and ive been going to cruises for 2 and a half years. Definatly will have too keep my eye out as i only saw a head on view.

Shit dude. I hope you get some luck with the Coppers and your insurance. Are you with JustCar? Can you let us know any info (or questions) they provide/ask you so that we can all ensure in the future that we're covered???

I work at Star City, never park your car at Harbour Side or Star City, cars goes missing all the time.. one off the managers had 2 cars stolen in a year, GTi-R, then SS...

It's a crap hole

don't be a tight ass and valet it, they never let my cars out of sight. Star city valet or some of the other hotel valets are the only places half decent when it comes to minimising the risk of a car being stolen....

Excluding crown casino in melb when they give any joe blow the keys to a 430 ferrari...

I go to star city about twice a week give or take and i get valet EVERY TIME - i think $36 ($25 on weekdays) is a small price to pay to get your car parked for you, safely, in the city.....also if anything happens to it, they are responsible and are covered for millions and millions of $$$!!!!

even if I'm not going to starcity i'll take my car there, get it valet, and then go to were ever i need to go in the city  - it works out cheaper then CBD sometimes.

off topic regarding immobaliser with just cars when u go for a insurance claim do u need to prove to them u had it fitted ? do they make u prove it etc ?

Not sure, never had a claim, but makes sense.

Think there is a form you have to get the installer to fill out, I have never been able to get hold of my installer and nobody else wants to sign it because then they are liable for someone elses work. Long story short, to save you many hours of chasing up installers, get them to sign it before you pay them.

I got mine done at Shift performance and they do not want to help at all, they claim they don't know the subcontractor that did my car and also did their own personal cars... bit hard to believe, just cars knows the story and has accepted it in writing that it is a sufficient device.

sorry to hear about your car i hope it turns up ok .. this happening would be my worst fear about owning a skyline just with the immobilizer i dont know how i would prove my car has one as it was in the car when i bought it would having the remote on your keyring be enough proof ?

Lol wtf, you made 2 threads about this in different sections, I was getting so confused when i saw different replies.

Anyways, AS I responded in the other thread:

I would highly suggest you get in contact with the Novotel hotel manager. He/she should be able to tell you how to get in contact with carpark security who would have security cameras around that car park.

As far as I can remember I saw a few in that carpark last time I visited darling harbour.

    • This has been covered a bazillion times but google wet boiling point vs dry. Motul is only good when it's fresh, once it absorbs moisture it gets pretty average very quickly. So as above, make sure you change it if you're going racing. I run the Endless brake fluid in mind, but only because a mate is a distributor and it's cheap. It's not quite as good as SRF but I'm running 380mm rotors on a Skyline so it's not like they get hot.
    • That's the thing, they still add it and it makes fuel cheaper, implying adding 10% of it drops the cost of 91 by what, 5c a liter? I remember when it was barely half the price of 98. Because you know, 85% of what is in the fuel is way cheaper than 91 fuel is by volume.
    • Auto electricians that do repairs on automotive AC systems can source service kits. I don't know where they actually source them. I do know that there is one available for the R34 comp that I would need it for. If you have to pay someone to dismantle, clean and do needed repairs and fit kit contents, then you'd probably end up spending a good fraction of the cost of a new one. I would not be paying for that, because I would be doing it myself. My mechanic (bro-in-law) will happily source what is needed. Back in the day (like in the 80s and 90s), rebuilding an AC compressor was the standard approach, same as for starter motors, alternators, etc, because new replacements were v. expensive. After the China manufacturing boom and the rise of the disposable approach to everything, people just started throwing broken/worn stuff away and not rebuilding things.
    • Is rebuilding it even a thing? Where would the shop find parts for it? I looked at some off these local online stores for my r34 and suprisingly they had brand new aftetmarket ones for $600-800 I think. I guess r32 might be a bit tougher.
    • I remember the days when E85 was priced in according to the $ per km outcome. Sure E85 was about 35% cheaper, but you also lost about 35% range... now it's fked..
