Hi guys,

For sale is all you need to begin karting tomorrow (except two items mentioned below). Karting is a great sport, it is fun and exciting, and most importantly teaches skills which translate to road driving. On two occasions I have been able to avoid an accident due to locking brakes and car control in the wet because karting taught me the vehicle handling skills required.

In the picture below is:

4 Spare wheel hubs

4 Spare tyres, bridgestones, for use in non-aka events

1 SNELL (Euro standard > Aus standard) spec ERG HJC helmet

1 Bottle of coolant (with some premixed coolant ready)

1 Bottle of fully synthetic rotax engine oil

1 20L jerry can to carry fuel in (with some 98 octane left over)

1 8L oil-fuel mixing bottle with graduations for various oil concentrations

1 Measuring cylinder with graduations for various oil concentrations and volumes in mL

1 Fuel jug (random containers which can hold fuel are infinitely useful when in the pits)

1 Fuel-oil mix funnel

1 Manual fuel pump

1 Near-full spray can of chain lube

1 Near-full bottle of DOT 4 brake fluid

1 Unopened mandatory clutch guard

0.5 metres of fuel line

1 0.8mm t-piece allen key

1 0.6mm t-piece allen key

1 Spare battery

1 Trickle charger for battery

1 AMB transponder

2 Spare chains

1 New 78 tooth sprocket

1 Freem rib protector

1 Pair of Sparco racing boots (size 10)

1 Pair of Kartech gloves (large)

1 ERG neck protector (large)

1 Tyre pressure gauge

1 Sparco kart stand

All clothing and PPE in great condition.

Also shown above is an assortment of useful spare screws, different spacer sizes and 4 jet sizes.

Kart has new clutch, 2 hours since major rebuild (at a cost of $1400), topped up brake fluid and coolant, kart comes with slightly worn mg reds, excellent for practise.

Also for sale, preferably with kart, is a 6x4" Felk galvanised trailer with spare tyre, registration till April or May 2011. Comes with useful wooden template for kart and fitted tarp and fastening gear.

I paid well over $10000 for all this gear between 2008 and 2009, and I'm selling it for a mere $6000!

All you need to begin karting tomorrow is the new-regulation airbox from any kart shop ($60), and to trade in the restrictor plate for the newer, larger one (ie: more power). Other than that, an AKA license and club membership and you're on the track.

In the other pic is the kart as it is, I have to put the wheel and wheel hubs back on it.

PM me if interested, I won't add my phone number as we've just had a death in the family and I want to avoid calls in delicate situations.

forgot to mention large double layer kartech suit also for sale, included in the above, as well as all chassis add ons, partly leather seat cover and the original plastic parts from the helmet. also the exhaust lining is quite new (noticeable more torque), micron signal generator and receiver, water temp gauge, new fuel filter and lines, new fuel pump gasket, and no doubt other newness's I've forgotten.

It was always well taken care of and will be sorely missed. I'm selling cos with uni/work I just don't have time for it, and I bought a skyline and have been planning on selling this for ages to pay part of it off

i am in newcastle and may consider short drives for delivery

lol thanks for the bump.

depends on gearing, which depends on track, (and on talent, but most importantly practise) but well over 120km/h at the end of an UP HILL 160m straight at the newcastle track. the straight line speed is awesome, but it's the cornering that tears your face off, its fantastic lol. i really, REALLY miss it but just don't have the time. on a good lap of the 16 corner in less than 1100m twisty newcastle circuit you average 75km/h, which is fast when sitting 2cm above the ground.

but the best thing, and i mean the BEST thing, is being able to drive fast, like you want, and tailgate, and speed, and it's all what you're supposed to do.

imagine sitting only just above the gound watching the grass go by at 125km/h and holding your foot to the floor while turning into corner 1. haha it's terrifying (and really hard the first time)

i love karting, it's real racing, real stuff, but im finishing off a 5 year degree in chem eng and in maths and going into graduate medicine (hopefully) nex year so have to focus on that in the near future.

oh, and that's with the restrictor plate cutting power down to 2/3, with a bit of practise you can go unrestricted and have the very sticky tyres and make the restricted guys look like billykarts.

Hey thanks for the tip, the missus got me a kit for Christmas, and it's still sitting in the wardrobe, haven't touched it yet.

You've inspired me, I'll give it a crack :)

Don't drink and drive ;)

Open to trades with cash either way depending on the trade. After a daily for my partner, preferably something with abs and airbags, fwd, and in reasonable condition.

Also open to bikes :P (motor, not push)

    • If you do go with drain back, make sure everything is foam or wool filled so it actually does something, and ensure there is a screen somewhere in the drain to catch anything that comes loose from the packing. I don't drain back
    • That's a good point. The rears of the covers themselves have no baffling at all though. Higher up more chance of air for venting the crank case. Lower on the side more likely to be submerged. I might be able to fit them on the sides but with both the sump drain fittings being on the drivers side the passenger one will need to make a U Turn and be nearer the turbo. But it will look neat being not up on top.
    • It won't likely matter where along the cam covers you put the big fittings. I would suggest putting them on the sides if you can, simply because it will reduce the flow up through the baffles and thus reduce the amount of oil that gets put into the foam. It might not matter, but it seems like something to consider as a worthwhile thing to avoid.
    • Well, I have my IM240 results with a cammed LS1... My Nox was 0.11 and my CO g/km was 0.2. Euro4 is 0.08 and 0.1 respectively. I'm gonna say for a stock RB this is actually plausible, BUT in Australia they were complied pre-Euro2, so the limits were: Which as you can see, is way higher. I'd say a stock RB with a new OEM Cat could? actually pass Euro4 for NOX but you'd probably have to do a hell of a lot of testing to prove it, and getting a car emissions tested and carrying a certificate of emissions when/if you get pulled over may be cost prohibitive if it's even allowable to get your car tested and re-classified. You'd have to find out what the UK Govt is using as reference material. It may be non-negotiable.
    • I made a little more progress last night and added some E85 safe fuel tank baffle foam in behind the stock cam cover baffle plate.  It still feels really wrong shoving foam inside the engine but apparently its fine based on it pretty much being the MINES/Hi-Octane RB26 cam baffle kit and the few posts here I have found of people doing it and the lack of posts saying the foam broke down and ruined the motor... Still plan to check it frequently though lol The last step for this round of oil control modifications I plan to make is to add some -12AN fittings to the cam covers and connect them to some (already existing luckily) -12AN fittings on the sump. Basically a sudo head drain/sump breather/pressure equaliser without having to remove the motor and do the one on the rear of the head. My plan is to add them to either the tops or the sides of the cam covers at the back. unless there is a compelling reason to have them at the front on the sides which i have seen a few times though they were all on RB26 cam covers from memory so that may be due to the stock breathers being on the back and the integral baffle being different ?
