I have done a search, but didnt have any luck finding what im after.

I would like the ECU pinout for an M35 stagea. I have had an SAFC II kicking around in my cupboard since owning my C34 and figured once the exhaust is done and i plop it on the dyno, I might be able to do a little fine tuning if its rich...

Cheers!

Ben.

zeil, jetwreck, andy or iamhe may be able to help. I know zeil had something at one point as he was looking at hooking a piggy back up.

I'm sure if you wait one of them will pipe up and let you know :)

Is this what you are looking for?

I had something else floating around that I translated from the G35 manual but I cant seem to find it.

Can you get me that info, I already have the connector and other bits modeled up in cad.

not a prob....cannot get onto it for another week or 2 as I'm flat out.

you sorted any of the low down prob's yet Dan?

No mate, Ive given up, There are too may thinks that need to be sorted out with our cars. Throttle response is my biggest problem I cant stand it once that is fixed we should see some improvements. There is no reason there shouldn't be more balls down low as its not like our cars have big laggy turbos on them. The ECU and engine control is holding things back.

We'll get there.....there's some interesting solutions coming through which a couple of us have been working on....some of which are already available....some of which I nearly available.

I've sorted just about everything to get more torque down low....now I just need the re-flash.....hopefully that fixes everything.

We have just fitted up a Greedy Informeter to some cars and the interesting figure is the Max Throttle percentage we get. We can not get over 82% throttle!! No idea why but is obviously a major limiter.

One thought is that the ECU manages the throttle to limit the torque that get to the gearbox.

Cheers

Thats interesting, Im not surprised that the ECU is doing that. I seems to me that the car's are not at all tuned for performance rather comfort and reliability (although that could be argued).

What the hold ups with a full standalone ECU and not using the standard one at all ?

To go standalone you either need to go with a Manual Valve Body on the gearbox(therefore disconnecting the gearbox ECU) or do a manual conversion. This as you no is not cheap to do. Or you can wait with the rest of us to see what the re-flash brings when it finally gets hear! :D

What cant we write some software to control the box using the new ECU or micro controller? worth looking into.

The box still works with the engine ecu in limp mode, just no kick down. If someone could reflash the trans ecu also, I would be very happy. :D

Cable throttle helped spice up the takeoff, not as much as I expected though. It is all pointing to the cams being the culprit, the small lift cam lobe and the way the overlap is adjusted must cause the laggy low down response. The reflash should adjust this out. (if they know their shit.)

We all keep talking about the re-flash but is it going to happen ? :D

For me I will sit and wait as this is definitely the best option. Its a petty there is not a daughter board available. What are the lads doing in Japan ? Still driving around RB's because the can work on them

Dan I can only chase so hard....they have had it since the 8th of Dec 2009(they could have had in earlier in July but thats another story  )....I have rung them nearly every week since then....numerous other people have rung them as well.

No one more than me wants this as my current tune wont let me rev past 6,000prm and with our GT30/71 you know what it must be like. In Japan they have Nismo, Mines, K-Rom, G-Zone and Impul....every now and again one comes up on IM but you have no idea of what you are getting as they all( other than the Nismo) ones need to be tuned on the car. Funny thing is I missed a Nismo one simply because I thought another would pop up some day...if only I new then what I know now.

Trust me as soon as this is available I will let you all know...Dan you also have the advantage of having the same turbo as me so you might be able to just use the same tune as me....even better if you option the rest of the system up to where I am!!!....lol

Yeah nice shot dude :) After paying $400+ for the spare ECU my finances had started to run dry! I couldn't afford the potential $1400+ to have the remap done. Had I have known they would have had to send to Korea and muck around for months I would have just sold the ECU to them and let them work it out.

For now I still hold the spare ECU incase it's needed, the unit runs fine as I have tested it in my car.

Im not having a go mate, Hopefully it does happen as a remap is obviously the best option. Any idea what the hold up is?

I reckon mine revs pas 6k as it seems to hit a power band around 5.5k and hats red line at 6.75k the trouble I have is that performance is very dependant and ambient temperature, below 15 degrees its seem like it has lots more power and hits boost cut now and then. Above 15 degrees power is down. I would love to see how a vq25det performs in another vehicle like a datsun 1600 with a stand alone computer and none of bullshit we have.

    • My take on gg2 48mm, 54mm, 58mm, and 62mm compressor map for same size compressor vs gg1 : All gg2 only outflow gg1 above 20 psi. As all g gen 2 surge line at lower left of comp map move to the right, all gg2 sacrifice spool vs same size gg1, surge line move to the right worst for 54mm gg2. So for same size compressor if you want best response, use gg1, if you want max hp at >20psi use gg2 but you will be laggier vs same size gg1. Max compressor efficiency drops to max 75% on all gg2 vs max 76%-80% of same size gg1. Iirc lower efficiency means hotter iat less dense air so lower hp at same operating point of comp map. Also curious why gg2 is mapped to lower max rpm vs same size gg1 (only 48mm size both gg1 gg2 mapped to same rpm) : 54mm gg1 165,000 rpm  vs  gg2 160,000 rpm. 58mm gg1 150,000 rpm vs gg2 140,000rpm. 62mm gg1 145,000 rpm vs gg2 140,000 rpm. If gg2 can safely spin to gg1 rpm then they can flow a bit more than as mapped. Good thing that all gg 2 interchange compressor and turbine housings with same size gg 1. So gg1 owners can buy gg2 chra only if planning to boost >20psi.
    • My stuff is all with Shannon's, granted, I don't really have imports I'm driving on the road, however, I've had multiple cars at the same time with them. Presently we have the Landcruiser on laid up cover, Sarah's Kluger on full cover, and the house insured. About 18 months ago Sarah wrote her Subaru Liberty GTB off, insured with Shannon's, and the payout, and buy back of the wreck was super quick. In 2020 we had the VF Commodore totalled in a major hailstorm. Storm was on the Saturday, I called on the Sunday and lodged it, vehicle was towed on Tuesday night, assessment team called on Wednesday to say it was a total loss and get payout details, money was in the bank on Thursday morning. Have had a few other claims both at fault, and not at fault, over the years, and never had an issue with them.   Funnily enough, they're also the cheapest insurer I find for things like Sarah's Kluger.   I will say I'm less impressed dealing with them lately around "the experience", as a lot of their staff that you deal with aren't car enthusiasts. Shannon's has a much more main stream feel ever since they decided to become "big corporate", laid a heap of staff off, and then hired a bunch of non enthusiasts. At the same time they've been making a push to be less "call us and we'll personally have someone who cares help" to "hey, this computer can do stuff for you" and are trying to get more square pegs to fit round holes. (That's just the vibe I get from them). Again, have had no issues with claims with them, but get a bit of a "less personal" feel from them.
    • A thing I wasn’t happy with with enthusiast was during the initial phone call they told me they’d insure it for 130k but needed photos.   I then sent them photos and they told me $80k as there were other cars either similar modifications available for around that price, I told them to send me the links to said cars so that I can buy them. i then sent the modification list with prices of the parts (no labor) and the price then came to 115k, which is still shy of the 130 that was agreed in the initial phone call
    • Ask me a bit later this week before payday
    • I agree that delayed payment probably isn't the most suitable solution. It seems a solid complete transaction would be best. As I wouldn't be using this sale as a line of credit that would typically earn interest, we can probably arrange a much cleaner single transaction deal. I can do $92.52 today. Would you prefer EFT, or Cash on Pickup?  😛
