hey guys, im new here.

i've been looking at this c33 laurel, its a rb25de, just converted to manual ALTHOUGH there is one problem, he has taken out the footbrake and replaced it with the clutch pedal, now it's left with no handbrake but he told me that it can be converted to a r32 handbrake, what is involved in doing this? approximate price, also would that mean i would need a r32 centre console also?.

i wouldn't attempt doing this myself, the one part on my car i wouldn't play around with is the brakes, is it an easy job or not worth the hassle and should find one already been converted?.

edit: also is there anything in particular i should look out for and expect whilst looking at laurels? i LOVE the shape of the car and i really want one, but i've never owned an import, only australian cars so it's all new to me

R32 handbrake Lever.

R32 (modified) or A31 handbrake cable

R32 / R33 centre consoles can fit with mods, but it doesnt match up....use A31 centre console if possible.....some people use the original auto centre console and run the handbrake lever through the opening....the gap between the lever and the edge of the opening is PERFECT size for a 600ml milk carton, ie Iced Coffee/Choc....that worksi f you want a cup holder (well...carton holder)

R32 clutch and brake pedals.

If you want more info, search....it has been covered in here about a billion times.

Also some info in the parts sticky thread.

C33 = identical to A31

so i can keep the original centre console and have the handbrake there?, is it a hard job? ive tried searching but cant find anything

Knock out the trim under where the auto handbrake release level would be, and run the manual handbrake lever through...like I said, there is a gap, so it does look a little dodge but better than nothing until you find a manual centre console.

thanks mate.

by any chance would you know how much this conversion would cost approximatley, without the centre console including labour from a shop, i really wouldnt play around with my handbrake or brakes in general

No idea mate...never had to do it on my manual Ceffy...Will be doing it on my auto at some point...Depends what cable you use...R32 cable and all the other parts, couple of hundred bucks, tops....genuine cables arent expensive either, just depends wheather Nissan will buy import parts or not...here in Perth some Nissan dealers refuse to.

price of r32 hand brake. price of r32 handbrake mount, the rest shud be free if u do it ur self.....

doesnt take that long doing it your self just take your time to test align the 32 h/b, drill and bolt it on.

i have no idea what work shops may ask in price so say a full 8hrs max ?

    • Seemed to be good when Jeff owned it but they did a shit job on my car, probably worth a think before spending 10's of thousands of dollars where they might be cutting corners
    • Starting with issues 1 - 5, we have already run into a problem...!  Issue #4 contained 2x front brake calipers, instead of 1 caliper and 1x steering knuckle. Will have to call DeAgostini on Monday to sort it out. Anyway here's some photos.  Issue #1 is the front bumper, headlights and number plate. Issue #2 is the front wheel (with "We produced with spartan air." text on the centre cap!) and tyre, the front lip spoiler and cylinder head cover with ignition coils under the centre cover... which will never be seen again. Issue #3 is the bonnet and cylinder head. Issue #4 is the front strut, brake disc (with laser etched metal discs) and brake caliper. I stopped here because of the issue with the missing steering knuckle.  Next update will be #5 - #10 in a few weeks.
    • DeAgostini is one of a few companies that release quite large (the largest commonly available size actually) 1/8 scale models in a series of weekly issues over 100 - 110 instalments.  They release different models for different markets and DeAgostini Japan have release the BNR32 Skyline GT-R Nismo last month. I've made two of these 1/8 scale sized cars (one an R35 GT-R from 2012 - 2014, the other I'm just about halfway through, a BNR34 Skyline GT-R from the 2Fast 2Furious movie) so when this R32 was announced there was no way I could ignore it as it's my favourite out of all Nissans.  Each issue costs around $20 so it costs about $2.2K when completed. I suppose it is very expensive for what it is, but the quality and details are really very good, and there are many "gimmicks" like fully functioning exterior and interior lights operated with a remote control, working steering, all doors/bonnet/boot/fuel lid open and close, the side mirrors fold in and it even has a speaker for the engine revving sounds when you turn the lights on.  Each issue comes with a magazine that tells the story of the BNR32 Skyline GT-R Nismo from the first design stages of the BNR32 to Group A homologation and the various racing version that were run in the Japanese Group A and JGTC, and Australian Group A.  So I plan to update the build in this thread 5 issues at a time.  https://deagostini.jp/r32/?srsltid=AfmBOooKjxDc4EUK2rmXqMBPgyHfFJ24s4oEPJBNpnF-lFlsRoW0PE6P
