Hi Everyone,

I've got this problem that occurs only when i turn to the right, it jerks. It occurs at both high and low speeds but with revs around 2-2.5K. Usual conditions are: Car is warm, turning tight-ish sweeping bends, large roundabouts or large and fast diameter circles. I have no problems at intersections/tight carparks and parking (needs speed). My car is manual.

What occurs through the turn/bend is what i can best describe as JERKY: The sensation is like being in a very responsive gear such as first, accelerating up to speed (say 4k revs) and then suddenly letting your foot off the accelerator and then slamming it back on, on and off repeatedly. Its that agressive.

This of course occurs in whatever gear i'm in. The above is an example of what it feels like through the turn. If i were to be able to pick up enough speed in the wet, the response would certainly induce lift off oversteer.

A few thoughts:

1. At first i thought my injectors were playing up: But noticed it ONLY occured on right turns

2. Thought it was fuel sloshing to one side of the tank and not having the fuel pump pick up petrol: But i had a full tank of fuel

3. Friend suggested it may be HICAS related: But since HICAS only affects steering the rear wheels, and the motors used to turn them couldn't possibly cause such an agressive response from the engne.

4. Diff related/Power Steering: Unsure. It certainly feels like the engine. Unless somehow the diff is suddenly binding up and releasing itself instantaneously. I don't think power steering would cause such a response to the engine. Similar to that of air-con, the engine easily compensates for the power drawn to operate them.

5. Fuel filter/AFM/Fuel-related: It only occurs through right turns though.

If anyone can please throw some ideas/suggestions/first-hand experiences with this sort of problem that would be greatly appreciated, before i spend the little money that i have. To me, its a real nutter.

Hi all,

Was reading about oil surge out of interest on google, and then thought about fuel surge. But since i mentioned that i had a full tank i ruled it out. However on a motorsport forum a few blokes mentioned:

1. "I experienced surging in my poor old 6 cyl VK which used to fuel surge on right hand corners(no matter how full the tank)"

2. "Yes this is a common issue with Gemini....sweeping corners are the worst"

What do you guys think? I dunno if it applies to me as they referred to CARBY engines (gemini, dunno about the VK).

Yeah standard diff. Will have a poke around to see if there is any obvious wear/damage to the mounts and any wires when the weather is better. I don't think that would help tho.

The engine mount may well act as a cushion to the whole effect in that the hesitation/jerkiness is absorbed somewhat before being directly transferred down the drivetrain. It wouldn't seem to be the actual cause. But like i said i will have a poke around....its raining atm.

A small outlay can reveal much if you get a 50 point check through one of the reputable franchises of Repco/Jax/Pedder in your area.

Some of those can be shonky too; so I would insist on being present during the inspection.

If I were in your shoes, I'd want to see if it was an electrical short, rack, suspension, bearing, mount, left CV or whatever.
